I did a search but couldnt find anything.

Just wondering if anyone has fitted springs themselves to a TH (or eqiuv)? Im thinking about just buying the springs and getting someone to help me fit them but im just wondering how hard or easy it is?

I will be fitting Kings S/Low front, Low rear.
Also my cars done 72000 on the factory shocks. just wondering if they NEED changing or if they would be fine with the lower springs.

Thanks
David

if you dont know anything about changing springs.. DONT do it yourself.. always get some1 else to do it or a professional....

but if you had springs in new shocks... then swapping them over is piss... lol :D

i once cut my springs in my swift... which meant pulling them out and putting them in again... side left took me about 5 hours... side right took me about 40mins....

learn as you go...

you have to put the strut top in the right direction otherwise it will make a big clunk when turning...once you learn the basics its pretty easy

but be carefull with the spring compressors, if they pop off they can be fatal

what about the wheel alignment? i dont want to be eating out the inside edge of my tyres after. is that something that can be fixed by any tyre shop doing a full wheel alignment or would i need a camber kit?

yeap ull need an allighnment when u lower them. got the spring on my TH changed and got the same combo as u with the super low for the fronts and low for the rear and its a big differance in apperance and handling. DVS did mine for me so it took bout a couple of hours or so to do all four. its not that hard. jus make sure u have really good spring compressor coz u dun want springs shooting out and hitting u, ur mates or ur car. i think its only like 3 bolts on tob (strut tower) and 3 or 4 bolts at the bottom. jus make sure u take ur time and line everything up.

nah its not the CVs coz it sonunds nothing like the CVs. my clunks are when you turn all the way to the right and start to reverse theres a bang/klunk like somthing shifts and its cummin from the right side only. my guess is the springs arnt sitting in itss place and is movin round a lil bit. ne idea how i can fix it without takin all the crap put again?

In the back ground of your shot !! :poke:

With the noise it also could be the stoppers at the end of the turning circle so as when your at full lock at the same time as you go over a bump you also can hear noises !
a bit of lubricant can sort that one !

the strut top isnt alightn properly

at the strut top theres a hole and theres also a hole in the base of the strut, make sure these are aligned, if not the strut rubs on the chassis and u can feel it in the steering, the strut will also make more noise over bumps etc

it should make the clunk by just turning the wheel, you dont have to be accellerating

ye thats it. i dun move and it clunks. will fix it this weekend. do i have to take the springs of to alighn the holes on the strut or is i dun have to???

SYNRGY

yeah you will have to take the top strut off, so you will have to compress the spring, undo the top bolt and re-align the top mount (not the spinning bit but the metal plate on top of the spring)

then do it all up and put back in car

You shouldn't have to pull it all apart - just pull out the strut and rotate it till it lines up.

For a tip - hold the base of the strut (the part that bolts to the brakes) and then get a ratchet onto the top nut (the one you undo to take the spring out) and continue to turn it as if you are tightening it - this should rotate the top hat until you line it up.

Dave - glad to hear your happy!! Its all about who you know ;)
