has anyones accel cable gotten sticky. i mean say u pull into a parking lot and u need to inch forward a little. but u dont want to hit the wall and or pole in front of u .so u squeese the pedal but its sticky or hard to push and the car jumps forward a little.when i push my pedal it takes a bit of effort to get it depressed more than 5cms but past that point its fine and smooth. just want to know if anyones used a decent lube to keep it smooth from the time u touch the pedal . :D

its safer to replace the cable ( i think you are a lead foot :D ) and did you look into the adjustment at the pedal
if you want to take the cable out and drip engine oil into the outer cable till it drips out the other end ..that works
i supose you could do drip the oil in it from the engine bay but its not as reliable



nope not a lead foot cos it mainly mt gfs car. and im not gona drip engine down the cable i wanted to know if anyones had a sticky cable and if they used a special cable lube or the like.and the ajustment is fine its just that its hard to push at the start, mainly for the gf so i dont want her to hit a wall or anything. thankz for the suggestion but :D

If you don't like the engine oil idea, which is probably the correct answer, then put a larger spring on it and it will be harder to push all the way. Or replace it.

yeh this is a gen1 thing and it ****s me off too... plus i have cruise control which makes it worse
the only way ive fixed it so far is adjust cable 'a' (cruise control) so that its really tight and cable 'b' just so it opens then butterfly, then heaps n heaps of wd40 in both cables.
also theres a spring which pulls the pedel up on the inside, unclip it i found it to smooth it out alot more but when the cruise is on it then doesnt bring it back to the closed position but this doesnt really matter
i would like to get new cables but i would have to get them from mitsi cos of the cruise and i have heard its just $100 just for one :S
