Driving along listening to music too loud as usual and I thought, what does my system sound like moving with only the fronts going. it was so much better than having the rear 6x9's going as well which made me wonder if I should take them out.

Then I began to think crazy... Boston G5 in a box rear loaded firing into a wall about 10cm away and sticking the 6x9's in the boot ( more for wank factor when the boot is open ). For all of those who have heard how low a G5 is in a sealed box, it will knock your socks off in a 26Hz Ported Box :bowrofl: . The plan would be the have the sub box occupy the area under the parcel shelf and the wall would built along the rear of the wheel arches and sealed air tight to the parcel shelf and to the sides ( there will be perspex, bracing, neons etc ).

Would I have any phase issues with it being like that? Common sense says it should have almost no cancellation therefore, louder, but has anyone tried it?

Phil, seeing as the pathlength at 50Hz and down (which I think your crossover was set at last time I looked) is long enough not to effect where your sub sits, why not leave the G5 in the boot at it currently is, give the 6x9's to your mate and just run front and sub like most competition cars do? :D:D

Yeah I was just wondering if that 50cm makes a big difference to the phase, probably best just to play around with it. I was hoping I didnt have to do all that!!

I think the Audison is LP at around that, maybe 70Hz, it is hard to tell, @ 24db/octave.

Yeah not running the rears was a big improvement, when just sit there it is not that noticable! BTW all my issues with the G5 are fixed, trailed it in a Ported box tuned to 26.7Hz and it is louder than the XT off 600WRMS with all the Boston authority that the XT lacks. Me very very happy, thanks :D
