I have a TH Altera, 6 speaker (4 and 2 tweeter) factory fitted.
I have replaced the rears with Pioneer 3 way 6x9's. with the factory deck these sounded better than the factory ****ters. i have since fitted the Pioneer 8750 from my old car and the sound quality is incredible considering the front speakers are still stock and there are no subs.

Im just wondering what the factory speakers are like for power handling and if they will last long with the higher power from the new deck. The equaliser settings are obviously making them sound alot clearer than they did with the old deck but is there any real need to replace them? i had pioneer bullet splits in the old car just wondering if its worth the hassel to swap them or if i wont notice much improvement?

I guess this question is to those who have a Magna with the factory "splits" and have upgraded.

Thanks
David

hmm....

the HU will not be putting out more then 10-17W a channel, so yes all speakers will cope (even though it says 50W x 4, this is MAX, in reality your getting jackshizenhouzen, even with a $800 aftermarket HU)

Best bet is to amp everything up....
And yes replace your speakers to something different, the stock magna speakers are...ok.....but s**t.....

now, YES, do put your other speakers in, as you will get clearer sound.
if you decide to amp them later on, you still have to take off the door trim to re-route wires to the amp.
so its your choice, but HU's offer next to no power

Close but not Quite Tuff..

Factory speakers are rated in PMPo so the New Deck will be over Poweringthe Stock Speakers.. While they will survive for a little while, it is Best to up grade..

They just wont like being Thumped at more then 1/2 Volume..
I would advise the Upgrade to the pioneers as the sound will be greater still.

PMPO or MAX power out put is still all the same bull****.

PMPO stands for peak music power output, same as MAX power ratings really, why because they both mean **** all.

As long as you dont clip you signal to your front they will be fine. Stock splits are rated at about 20WRMS so I dont really see a problem. I know may a GTV with the 3way set up keep them stock and even amp them no worries.

yeah, still all crap, BUT ratings for both are quite different.
go look for a cheapy set of $10 computer speakers, you will usually see some ridiculous claim like 500WPMPO when in reality you'll be getting 1W
MAX is usually double...... not 500 times more

Oh, and my front stock speakers have survived off a HU for 13 years
