Well, although once again this may have been said before, but got a couple questions

Anyone know on average just how much it would be to get a TF 3L V6 motor fully rebuilt? (by a mechanic or someone of the likes), mainly cause its done 255,000kms and well... i reckons its wearing out, and could do with a recondition or rebuild...

Also, would an engine from a TJ fit into a TF engine bay? Cause dad has the engine from his TJ (which was writting off by a truck, back half only), and is thinking about selling it, and im wonderin if i could use it in my TF station wagon, and take the auto trans with it.

Yes it is possible, speak to clarion magna, he has done it. You'll need the ECU/TCU, not sure on what else.

Yeah i would also like to know the cost of a rebuild? Might be worth doing a turbo setup at the same time.....

a rebuild for my TP was about $3000, inc head shim and bored to biggest size possible, balanced and roller rockers.. i'd assume around the $2500-$3000 mark.. thats about average these days.

it might be cheaper to just buy a new 3.5 motor. Mitsubishi was discounting them to around 1500 because of the 380 production starting.

im going down to my local mitsubishi dealer, to see how much it would be, for both a body kit, and a new 3.5L motor, and how much it would be to get installed, cause i want a new engine, and thinking about gettin a new one, if its gonna cost 2 much, i'll get it rebuilt... wish me luck...

if u go for a rebuild then u can get it ported n polished and all that fizzle nizzle stuff and u'll have more power..

i wouldnt be going to mitsubishi to get any of that done. I've known a few mitsubishi mechanics and even used to go to school with 1. If this guy was hired by mitsubishi i'd never trust them to do anything.

As for bodykits, you would be getting ripped off. THey are merely an agent, they get someone else to do it for them and mark the price up so they can get a cut.

eg. a momo gearknob for $250, i went to momo's distributors in melbourne and bought the gearknob for $80.

Get a new engine(slightly used), if you put a 3.5 in you will be getting more power and torque too. Your could get a ralliart a while ago new for about 2k.
