Had my exhaust done about 6 months ago - got the full treatment. RPW street headers, Hi-flow cat, branching off to dual exhausts at the back. When it was fitted it sounded brilliant but as the months have passed the noise and drone has increased to an almost unbearable level. It still sounds great outside (possibly too loud) but inside is just becomming too much.

What options do I have? I loved the sound when it was fitted and would love to have it back. Should I get new mufflers (magnaflow or something), a new resonator, remove the exhaust, or go cry in the corner?

All suggestions welcome.

why dont u take it back to were it got done and tell them to take a look at it cos it's not that old, and tell them that u got pulled over and the copper mentioned if he wanted he could defect u for having ur zorst to loud. maybe they sold u a shoonky one anyway. at least this why if there is a prob u wont have to shell out and if theres no probs then u might think about spending. oh yea u said any suggestions the cheapest one is go and but a $2 pack of ear plugs and pressto no more sound :D

I had a similar problem, except it was new. It was very tinny and VERY loud. Drone was also a bit of a problem. They fixed it through replacing the 12" hot dog resonator with about a 16-18" resonator with a much much bigger expansion chamber.

The result is a which quieter car than even when I had the stock exhaust with straight through muffler. It use to drone a bitwith the old stock pipes + muffler, droned really badly with the new 2.5" pipes, but not anymore.

Thanks guys. Haven't taken the car in yet but I plan to do it this week. I thought changing the resonator might be a solution so I will discuss this with them.

And as silly as it sounds I had considered the ear plug option for me and my passengers.

Welcome aboard. Please find your complimentary bag of ear plugs under the seat in front of you. For your safety please insert them know.
