looks good mate I'm actually thinking of relocating the tweeter for my mbquartz splits (currently on dash) I think in your pictures I can make out your tweeter nearish to the door handle. This is generally regarded as A good position for sq but I'm not real keen on cutting into my door trim. Figured I may as well ask if you've performed some miracle and managed to get the tweeter there without cutting a hole in the trim? Also did you run all of the wires through the rubber grommet joining the door to the car? finally what kind of system do you have in there?

hope you sound deadened the doors I've only just started (gspotted trims and serenity maxed outside skin on one door) and I can already here a slight difference cant' wait until I've finished it

i actually mounted the tweeters onto the removable arm rest/door handle part with just a couple of little screw bolts. i ran the wire out the back of the angled mounting bracket and then drilled through the panel underneath where the removable trim section sits. so when i put it all back on i held the arm bit in place but just sitting out a little. put the wire through, then fitted the trim back on over it then screwed the arm rest back into place, covering it all up and giving me a perfect snug fit. also by doing that if i ever wanted to take the tweeter of the hole for the wire is covered by the trim insert. another thing that was asked and i remember seeing in other posts was how to get the wires through the ruber sleave between the door and body. now this may be different for the newer models but i found it a piece of piss. just give yourself plenty of slack with your wire and pull both ends of the grommets out! they have no permanent seal, they just plug in the holes with a lip. yank both ends out and straighten it over the wires already in there then just using a piece or wire or whatever thread your speaker wire straight through. make sure its all threaded through in the right place then just pop the ends back into their holes. it took me a fair while to work it out and get it right but on the second door it only took a couple of mins. finally how do you mean you are sound deadening your doors and why?

Man I couldn't get my grommets to come out, that was so annoying lol.

Oh well..glad it was easy for you :)

thanks for the reply mate, I'll have to have a proper read of your description later but as far as I know the doors in my tj have a 1 piece trim so it may not be as neat as what your describing (I'm probably reading it wrong) but it definately sounds great if it's reversable should you ever remove the tweeters

yeah I've run one set of stinger 12ga speaker cable through the grommet for the woofers but theres no chance I can get another set for the tweeters through however I've worked out I could put the tweeters on the stock speaker wiring and link it up in the console somewhere.

as for sound deadening you do this to remove any rattles or vibrations but more importantly to me improve midbass and general sq in your front splits. Here is a guide that gives you a rough idea of what you need to do http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/tutorials/tutorial.cgi?action=viewtute&tutename=Sound_Deadening_Lancer_Doors&displayname=Sound%20Deadening%20Lancer%20Doors&num=1168784&NewTuteAuthor=Andrew%20Burke&NewTuteCategory=Sound%20Deadening

For my deadening I'm using gspot paint for the door trims and serenity max for the inner and outter skin. Filling in the service holes with mdf looks like it's going to be tricky but we'll see how it goes

that is why i mounted the crossover onto the door itself instead of hiding them away. this way i only have to run the single main wire through to the deck instead of both. made things alot easier and i also thinks it looks pretty cool and its something different from your average install which i like too. on putting in the tweeters, even if you cant hide the holes to mount them you should still be able to get the hole for the wire under the trim insert by mounting the tweeter up against it. sorry i didnt take more photos of it while i was in the process, i didnt think of it till after but it would have been heaps easier to explain with pics.
