well if you want to cruise down chapel st with ur windows wound down, ur boot rattling it's ass off and the 16 yr old school girls to look at you, go for SPL.
If you enjoy music, go for SQ :P
I choose SQ :P

Depends on how good it is really in terms of SQ. If it's anything like s_tim_ulates then I'd say SQ. Then again, it all depends on how loud it is in terms of SPL. A little too hard to say, but if it still sounds good at a very loud level (where your ears are literally hurting) then I like that. So I'm more of in between the two, and don't say SQL because Sound Quality Level just doesn't really make any sense :P

You can still make the Girls look, with Beautiful Crystal Clear Acoustic music...
It Just depends on your Taste...
I like feeling the Music rather then just hearing it.. I like deep low Bass Sweeps and nice Tight Punchy Bass over spine tingling Guitar Riffs..

If you get a decent SQ system it will most likely go loud anyway as you will be using quality components!
I go loud SQ.

loud sq :)
Yeah, it's no good if it's one extreme or the other. I like decent quality that goes decently loud. I'm no audio purist or anything and I don't pump the tunes that loud either.

For Daily driving duties, it's sound quality all the way... But when it comes to competition, I'd prefer dB Drag Racing over CAASQ

There is a Difference Between Sound Quality and an SQ Freak...
SQ Freaks will go out of their Away for sonic Clarity and Superiority
There is a Difference between a Hoon and an SPL Freak..
An SPL Freak Goes out of their Way to Make as Many Large Diametre Woofers Fit into their Vehicle as Possible with as much Power as Humanly Possible..
a Hoon on the Other Hand Could Be Classified as Either, They Could have an SQ system with a Set of Focal Splits and an Xtant Sub Cranking the Beejeesus out of it..
Or a Pair of Amped 6x9's Cranking the Beejesus out of it...
You Dont have to be either.... You can Have an SPL System that Does SQ or and SQ System that Does SPL...
Often Car Audio Enthusiast are the ones with their system down at a Pleasurable level as they know that Cranking a System to impress only Attracts theft..

I have heard some "SQ" cars and it seems like just because there system cant go loud they call a SQ car. Problem is it sound like syht.
In my car I have:
6.5inch splits rated at 55WRMS - getting 65-70WRMS
12inch sub with 3inch excursion rated at 450WRMS - getting 600+WRMS
I class that as SQL! :D
People always love how clear it is, they dont mind the bass because it blends in well. You dont realise how loud it is until you go to say something. :bowrofl:

I vote SQL.
I have bought great components to acheive SQL (which it sounds sweet) but purposely avoided volume. I get clean deep bass without the crap BOOM BOOM BOOM. For me SQL over SPL anyday.
I mean whats the point in driving a car with 130+dB of music blowing out your ear drums? Is it really going to attract the chicks and get a BJ or two? Not to mention the problems with cops and theft?

SQ for the win. SPL is good, but not at the expense of quality. What's the point of having it really loud if it sounds like crap? If I wanted to hear loud noise that doesn't sound good I'd go to the airport and lay under the runway when the 747's land.
Gotta get it as loud as you can while still sounding awesome IMHO.

It's all about 'feel' in SPL, just to clarify some confused SQ'ers
