Well its looking like my motor could be soon on its way out, so i think after i get the kit and exhaust id better start saving...
Im just curiouse to what you guys reckon would go well in a TE considering the motor is a right hand mount. Im looking at the 2.5 Twin Turbo Mivec V6 featured here. After a quick inspection and grabbing the measurements it looks like a rather easy bolt in job. Power outputs around 170kw with stock turbo's and exhaust.
Otherwise it will be a simple 3.5 conversion with a manual gearbox. I will probobly cource a wrecker magna and use a front cut for the 3.5 manual so it would be much easier and no drama's.

Im a big ass turbo fan...so id say go for the turbo!
but im thinking of the 3.5 myself latly...

The 3.5 would be a better insurance option but the 2.5 TT would be very cool and a nice manual option... Oh decisions decisions. Apparently from research the manual gearbox came with an LSD. Not 100% sure on this one...

Uve been saying u want the AWD to be for you performance baby...
id save the turbo for then :)
go a 3.5 and be N/A happy for now....
and yah, insurance is *****!

Im evaluating all my options, it will cost me 3-4 grand to have my motor rebuilt so why not spend another grand and get a decent motor to match my bodykit eh?
The AWD is still on the cards don't worry and is still on track.

 wow.. that looks very neat.. are you sure its a 'V6' cos it looks more like a 'inline 6' if you ask me ???
170kw, is what bout 200hp? little bit more.. ??
hehehe.. well you could always get the turbo upgraded to something BIGGER!!! muh ha ha h ahah
where did you get that engine from? who sells em??
id be interestd in changing... very interested, and use my current motor as a spare, incase i blow the turbo
you could add a intercooler, and larger turbo and really be talkin :D
id cirtenly be lookin at this engine as an exchange option :D

is that the GTO engine?
AussieMagna
06-04-2003, 05:10 AM
No its from a Galant VR-4.

06-04-2003, 06:01 AM
I think you may have yourself a Turbo FTO engine, because its deffinately not a GTO engine, and the Galant VR4's put out 206kw from an intercooled 2.5L V6, as displayed here http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/PRODUCTSS/galantv.html.
Does anyone know if Mitsubishi Japan still produce the FTO, GTO, and Galant VR4?
AussieMagna
06-04-2003, 06:09 AM
I could be wrong in the power outputs, but im very sure its from a galant VR-4.
I've never seen or heard of a turbo fto and don't they use 2.0L V6's?
narkus2
06-04-2003, 06:23 AM
Oops! I think there was an aftermarket Turbo kit, but it was only available for the 2.0L V6.
I was searching the net, and couldnt find any info about that engine. If its a 206/363 VR4 engine, I would seriously consider it for your Magna. Those engines are assome.

I know the power outputs are great and i think its a good little motor. I just have to research compliance and registration laws...
Insurance isn't to much of a bother but it has to be able to be registered.

if i was to do an engine conversion (not that i am thinking of upgrading my 3.5L powerplant at all) but i would be looking at the 4L V8 from the japanese proudia!!!
easier on insurance - made for the FWD, and isnt too much bigger than the 3.5L V6 - wouldnt that be nice - a V8 rumble from a magna - mmmm, mind u i am a bigger fan of turbo's than 8';s - but either way - the 8 would be cheaper to insure!!

he just has to go that one step further :P
wow blake engine rebuild already? hasnt your car only done like 110,000km?
Manual
07-04-2003, 01:41 AM
if it was an 8 - i reckon it would have to be a TT setup - mm, quad turbo setup!!!
that would be nice - i am sure that is what the Bugatti Veyron is running - a quad turbo V8 - 0-100 in about 3.5 seconds or so - 0-300 in 14 seconds!!
mmm, nice!! hahaha!!
only 2 million buckaroos and it is also fvken ugly!!

i got a video of a chrysler pulling an 8 second quarter - at one stage 3 wheels were off the ground and on one run he almost planted it into the wall!! ouch !! but it has - Disturbed down with the sickness as the play song and it just rocks!!

/me kicks the bin flying...
my magna better last till 250km atleast before a rebuild.....
Dam sales man, saying it should be good till 300km :S
Manual
07-04-2003, 01:53 AM
hey Vinh
i am sure your car will last till at least 250 as long sa you have had the timing belt / chain / whatever replaced - if it got done at 100k's good - if not look into it!!
they are a strong little goer the mitsu!! dunno why blakes would need a complete engine rebuild - it didnt seem that bad??

Its having a few little problems, nothing major, but im going to start saving anyway. It may not need a rebuild. It might make 180K and still be good. If it does make it for another 2 years i'll sell it and move on to an AWD.
What kind of problems?

I was going to make a post on how well the mitsubishis engines n gearboxs hold up!
mines done a very hard 170000ls (almost) had it services reguly (not enough) and only serviced the box once , n filled up d fluid once...
i dirve it like a *** mental..if i get a chance to race or just boost ill go for it...droppin the box from nueral to drive with bout 4g on the RPM for burnouts...
still goin strong...a lil clunky but alls good!
