RECENTLY PURCHASED A 96 TE MAGNA, AUTO 2.4l. IT HAS EXTRACTORS AND I WOULD LIKE OPINIONS ON OTHER SIMPLE AND CHEAP MODS I CAN DO.
THE LITTLE 4 CYLINDER REVS RIGHT OUT, CLEAN AND CRISP UP TO 6 GRAND ON CHANGES!!

Has it got a POD Filter or a Replacement Panel Filter? If not.. I suggest one of them would be your best bet! The replacement panel filter is not too hard at all to fit and lets you're magna breath easier! After that its time to get a aftermarket ECU (Haltech, Greddy etc.) A more expensive mod but definetely a worthy one!

What extractors do you have? Have you swapped the muffler? It may be a 4 but I bet that the piping is still smaller enough for the muffler to be restrictive. Wonder what dia it actually is?

Why's that Booya?
The TCU is a separate unit, can't it work with teh Haltech?

nope. if you 'tried' to wack in a haltech, id like to see you start your car
actually, by the 'textbook' the car will start, but bugger me dead if you ever manage to get it into gear
im sure you could put a hatlech in it, and do downhill drags while in "N"
sorry, but no. you cannot put a "Replacement" aftermarket ECU into a Automatic Trans :(
Fooya has already done the research :p
(trying to copy my ideas again  )

Because the auto trans shares informtion with the stock ECU.
When you fit any programmable computer to the vehicle you are removing the air flow sensor - immediet check engine light - factory limp home mode. As well you are using different coolant temp switches etc and at the end of the day even if you try to piggy back it - it will never work properly again.

AEM, Electromotive, and TCI make stand alone engine management systems that are compatible with automatic transmissions.
