get your attention???

I have bought a 1989 wagon for $200

I just want the carbie, wheels, muffler, radiator blah blah blah

I need to drive it about 40km and it has a cracked head, water goes into the combustion chamber and out the exhaust,

What is a good idea on transporting it?? i can drive it with a 12v water pump connected to 25 lt of water and switch it on every few km....

Any suggestions??????

Thanks stacks

hold your mouth in a grimace all the way, and you should be fine.

Go on
drive it

you know you want to

I used to know truckies that used peper to stop leaks, which sounds as wierd as eggs.

let us know how far you get

Dont use the egg its gets everywhere and never comes out, use black pepper, one of those little plastic jiggers (about 50g) should be enuff. Its saved my ass b4 and flushes right out later. :D

Never tried it on anything that serious before.

Leave the cap loose and carry plenty of water its gunna be a long 40K, check it real regular like. Pick ya time 2 so you dont get caught in any traffic. :D

Personnaly I'd throw a tow rope on the bugger. :D

if your not worried about the egg getting every ware use it

me old kombi van sprung a huge oil leak (cracked block) i put 4 eggs and shells in the oil got me 40km before the oil light came on drove it 5 km with light on got home and hosed it down incase it caught on fire that killed it but it made it home

Pepper is good for a leaking radiator, but it will not really seal a cracked head.

3am in the morning is your best option for time. Anyone up at that time is insane :)

the egg is a good idea when you are stuck, but im pretty sure it will lower the eficiency of the radiator and see as u want to use it on your new car i wouldnt recommend it.

id say just take a few bottles of water with you, dont drive it hard and you will be able to limp it home. driving without the radiator cap on or loose sounds like a good idea too that will keep the pressure down. also maybe keep the heater on ? and drive in the early hours of the morning.

hey got a great idea we should place bets on if he makes it without stoping

or how many km he gets

HA HA....

dis is fun, yes!!

Im thinking of

putting my pushbike in the back (just in case i get really stuffed)

leaving the bonnet unlatched secured somehow...(extra cooling),
a 12v water pump going from a 25 lt water cont.to the overfill bottle thing, making a few holes in the top of the bottle so it doesnt pressurise and stuff..
drive real easy.
stop at servo and get tyres pumped and check water (x 1 stop)

and if if buggers up too much i guess i will borrow my mates car trailer and tow it...

Thanks for the ... ideas!

its a 5 speed too... kinda interesting to drive

does wagon suspension fit on a sedan??? it has a full set brand new still in their boxes...

I limped a car 75km, with stripped bearings, a faulty automatic, and a cracked block. Fun! It failed in Cranbourne, so it was just towed from there.

Yep. It was the Ghost, with that secondhand motor.
