View Full Version : where to put alarm
i am installing my alarm on my car and it has a knock sensor so it has to be level etc...
anyway, i have put all the wires and everything in, 2 for central locking to make it remote, 3 sensor wires and diodes (boot, door, hood), and i am going to wire up the immobiliser a bit later when i have alot more time, but heres the thing, i have a couple of ideas where to place the actual alarm, but i dont want to do something i'll regret.
I was just wondering where people have put theirs, had theirs installed, or where the stock on is. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
note:- i have a 2nd gen and i didnt know where to post this and i thought people who know
about car audio might know something about this, maybe.
- i am kind of in a hurry as i am back at school and there are some kids in year 11 who
think they are gangster hardcore dickheads, because most dont have cars they dont
understand how expensive everything is and how much you care about your car etc...
amazing thing is i am only worried about this this year and not about my TER so much
(i am in year 12) i'll worry about my TER after i get this installed.

Fitting the brain either behind the glovebox, or heater controls is good, no one will ever find it and you can run the wires along the factory wiring looms which run along the lateral support beam. Zip tie the brain tightly onto a main wiring harness so that the shock sensor picks up movement in the whole car.
i was gonna bolt it on......:doubt:
still trying to see (pics) where ppl have theres first

hmm I was going to buy an alarm system and have a go an installing it myself..but now im not so sure :S
its ez, except the placement for the actual alarm, if its a 2nd gen then wait for me to get mine in and i'll tell you where i put mine, its as easy as car audio as long as you know some things about eletronics

i can get an alarm from autobarn for about 70 bucks..how liekly is this to have the door, bonnet and boot sensors?
what exactly will i get with your average budget system? I plan to get an alarm considering the amount im about to go spend on audio...plus i want keyless entry

i got my system for $50 or under from dick smiths, it doesnt have remote central locking unless you have central locking already installed in your car, then i can tell you how to hook it up.
