Ok here goes

What are split speakers?

What are the differences and how they compare to non split speakers.

What splits would you recommend from pioneer?

I was told that the Pioneer "Bullet" splits are better than many from an audio "eggspert" I have them, but i bought them by accident (nvm)

I am not an audio buff but in short and in my language, they are little speakers that tap into the outgoing audio signal and take out the higher pitch tones for a crisper sound... aparrently positioning these properly can make all the difference... apparently I didn't install mine properly lol

An audio god will be along soon :D

Splits are speakers where the tweeter is separate to the woofer so it can be mounted somewhere more appropriate for a tweeter. Splits will usually have a woofer, a tweeter and a crossover to split the frequencies.
The other type of speakers are coaxials. These are the ones you see that have the tweeter/s mounted on top of the woofer (like typical 6x9's).
As I said, the advantage with splits is that you can place the tweeters somewhere where the high frequency sounds won't be blocked, ie: on the dash, etc. This isn't a problem with lower frequency sounds, so the woofers can go in the doors where your leg may block them abit and not be affected too much.
Alot of manufacturers will make the same or very similar speakers as splits or coaxials, it's up to you whether you want to mount tweeters somewhere.

splits pretty much give you a better way of aiming the sound in my opinion, that and thee is less frequency cancelation i think, not sure how to explain it but it makes sense to me, the good pioneer splits are here (http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entertainment/proseries/tsc160r/index.html) (ignore their supposed wattage as RMS is the only REAL rating, the rest are marketing)

for example if a speaker says 200w peak power, its w in rms is around 100,
paek power wattage is normally double rms but i have no idea about max power or nominal rating as i only looked at rms ratings. Use your ears more then statistics when picking speakers
