Does anyone know if all Magna's have speed limiters fitted? I'm intending to enter my TF Sports into some Motorsports events this year and I don't want top speed restricted?
Thanks,
around 210
good luck gettin there on any track work

So is that 210 unrestricted? I know the later models after TJ have speed limiters around the 210 mark.
Thanks,

So TF is restricted also? Any experiance in how to remove? What top speed could be expected from the 3Lt without?
Thanks

What mods have you dont to the car, because as Meh said, youd be incredibly hard pressed to reach those speeds in a stockish TF in any track work.
But to circumnavigate the speed limiter, you would need an aftermarket ecu.

Manual's are higher than autos. I think an auto is around 190 - 200.

The speed limiter in TH & TJ auto is 215km/h. I hit it before... ;)

Aftermarket chips have the ability to bypass the speed limiter, yes. But it is not recommended without some major work to your suspension, etc.
even with a few mods done ur still goin to struggle to get up to 200km neways.
im pretty right getting there pretty quick but i dont do it unless there is a long long straight

My Tj from what iv found seems to have an over rev sort of mechanism where it will drive normaly up to 210kms and will be redlineing which is 6000rpm then once u keep pressing that the revs drop back down to 4000rpm and you can continue to accelerate taking you up from 215-220kms MAX. This is with no engine mods done to my car and im not exactly sure how it works but this is what happens. I wouldnt recomend testing this unless you also have access to an old air strip!!Takes a long time to slow down from 220kms!!

My TF must have been a freak. I got to 212 a few times before it cuts out. It got there pretty easily I was amazed, only sat on 4600rpm. Without the limiter I am deadset sure I could have achieved 220 maybe 225 tops. Only a sports muffler fitted too.
See pic below.
Also, someone told me a TJ speed limiter is 240. ???

lol.. yeah they do alright the old cruise controls. The mitsu manual says cruise works from 40km/h up to 200km/h but it works beyond.

Yep, tis the only place to truly test ya car. Roads aren't bad either. Just gotta watch that temp gauge but I've never had hassles.

From what I have read the 3rd gens are limited to 210kph (originally due tot he max speed rating of the tyres). Anyone reaching over 210 can put this down to speedo inaccuracy as the higher the speed climbes the larger the error percentage.
I read an article once that interviewed a MMAL engineer and he stated that an unrestriced 3.5 (not sure bout the 3.0) will top out at about 240-246kph :P

if they are the ones near the queensland border.... than they would suck to test speeds.
