can any one explain to me why autos drone so much more then manuals? i mean i don't mind it i quite like it, but i just want to know how come the auto has more droning?

I would think just because of the torque convertor slipping and keeping the engine in a certain rev range 1500-2500 which is where a manual or auto will drone. Its just that the engine in an auto will be under more load there more often.

From personal experience a manual will drone just as loud as an auto, it's just that you drive as slighttly different rpm ranges with a manual that you arn't always at the worst rpm :P

oh ok, i'm just wondering this because in the recent auto salon about making a rice car with the exhaust ' get a big fat exhaust so it's loud and shatters windows, and ease of the accelerator to emulate that its a manual, as a big droney exhaust cries out to the world that you have an auto box' something like that
