does any one deffinetly know where this resides in a second gen magna. could anyone post pictures of what it looks like.

It is under the dash, under the heater box, looks a little like the ECU

Hello stereo_god,

Yes to your question, sort of. On a first generation U.S. Diamante, the TCU (Transmission Control Unit) is located next to the fire wall undereath the center consol. Here's some photos attached.

Just like the ECU (Car's main computer), The TCU has the same problems - the capisitators leak and causes damage to the circutry board. YOU CAN pull any fault codes for the TCU which may lead you in the right direction/problem. UNLIKE the ECU, the TCU is inter changable between car years (2nd Gen - 1st Gen in U.S.) and even between different motors - SOHC vs. DOHC. Just has to be the same transmission.
