I did a search on debadging and in one of the threads Black Beard said

Removing the 'regular' badges was easy. The stupid series2 badge on the other hand.... I should have left it on. It appeared (on my car at least) that the series2 badge had been applied before the clear coat was put on the paint (guess this could be an indication that my boot lid had been resprayed before I got the car??), so when I finally did get the bugger off - I was left with a patch different colour paint - and rough edges around where the badge had been.

Has this happened to anyone else with a TJ series 2 or is it a one off

i'm gonna have to say it was a 1-off. badges are always added to the car in the factory after paint is completed.

I concur.

My new Series 2 TJ didn't suffer the same fate......... so I guess the bootlid (at very least) on my old car had been resprayed at some stage.

i almost removed the badges on my TR, when i discovered that the badges were left on when it was resprayed at some stage and there are runs under the badges so it would look horrible

id say the boot lid has been resprayed at some stage by a dodgy spray painter..

never would a car be painted in the factory after a badge had been put on..

you would think the same for a panel beater.. who would spray over them??

1 way to find out.. take yours off.. if its stuffed underneath/leaves a mess just get a new one from mitsubishi.. they would be under $10 (the chrome plated plastic VRX badges are only $17, series 2 one would be nothing compared to that) and stick it back over the top.. :D
