View Full Version : Brake upgrade
I know this has been done before but I need more info.
I've noticed that alot people have upgraded front brakes from single to twin pistons.
Where do people source them from? I know RPW have them, I know that Ralliarts and AWD's have them, but I was under the impression that they are dear and hard to come by.
Apparently some Verada's come with twin piston calipers.....Is this true? If so wreckers here I come.
I need help because I would like to upgrade (not just slotted rotors).
I know that there are places that supply upgrades but if there is a different model magna, pajero or verada that came with twins and fits a 3rd gen I would love to know about it.
Cheers
wreakers, ring around its yur best bet, other wise try RPW

So you are saying: Ralliart / AWD spec brakes that came off a verada are going to be cheaper than Ralliart / AWD spec brakes that came off a Ralliart / AWD.
Wreckers aren't that stupid mate
they are still twin pistons so either one is goin to be good,
if there is any difference between the two ??

Ok MATE. Why don't you read the post again. I was enquiring whether verada's or any other mitsubishi had twin piston calipers. I wasn't thinking about ralliart/AWD twins since they are bigger aswell and as I mentioned harder to come by.
So does anyone know if there is such a twin piston caliper?
What does everybody else have?

What does everybody else have?RPW will sell you a reconditioned set of twin piston calipers to fit the standard rotor size. I don't know what sort of car they've come off though.
In the 2nd gen cars I believe some Veradas had twin pot calipers, but in the 3rd gen range everything has the same brakes except of course the Ralliart and AWD.

Some 2nd gen Veradas (and maybe Magnas?) had twin potters. Don't think they'll fit a 3rd gen. Some (all?) exported Diamantes had twin pistons but aren't the same spec that the AWD / Ralliart's got.
Do the 2nd gen twins fit a 3rd gen?
Redav if you don't mind me asking, how did you come by the AWD brakes for your car? Dealership, wreckers. Approx. how much did they set you back?

Wreckers. AWD Verada. I think I paid $900 for front and rear calipers and rotors. Ended up getting the rear hubs to make them all fit. Rears are now off the car again. I want to put them back on but need to find the right rotors.

Well good luck.

Do you NEED to do the rears as well? I was thinking that you'd only need to upgrade the fronts. Or does that throw the whole thing out of balance/whack?

if you know which car your rear is off of, I can supply rotors.
In fact I can supply rotors and pads to any cars.
If you are after twin calipers and don't want to go to wreckers, I can do the RPW twin piston caliper upgrade kit.
Just pop me an email if you wish.

Nope. It's essentially a cosmetic upgrade. The 258's look small in 17' rims and the upsized ones, while not filling them, improves the look somewhat.

Was that for me or the other dude? If me, then yeah, I'll look into it again. I got a quote from you ages ago for EBC all round but I didn't go ahead with it as the current ones were still going strong and I had other expenses which were more pressing.
My calipers have come from an AWD Verada which I believe is the same part number as the Ralliart. So, theoretically if I get Ralliart rear rotors, they should fit. I'm still looking into it.

Meh you have twin pots of a import magna that uses the standard disc size how much did you pay for them.

Approx. how much do you do them for Anthony? (twins)

Well, I looked into this late last year and it appeared front and rear calipers are the same. I'm going to confirm this again though.

Would anyone else be interested in a possible group buy through Anthony once models and part numbers are verified??

No, it's just the fronts. Speak to Jason though as he sourced Meh's brakes. I think someone else brought some back and they didn't fit. I don't know why.
