Well, due to changing my head unit, my 6 CD stacker doesn't work, although I thought i'd be ok, I am having withdrawls! Now, I thought I'd just go out and get one, but then went thinking what the hell the difefrence is in them? do some have some kind of special features one should know about, because they range in price quite a bit. Anyone got any experience with CD stackers that didn't come standard? how are they over bumps with skipping etc (i know my standard one skipped sometimes) Is there differences in SQ from CD stackers? I've got an eclipse CD54325 HU, so i need somethign that'll work. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated :)

i have a XPLOD 10 stacker...
and that thing is great.. NEVER EVER Skips on me..
i had it right next to the 2 10inch subs and it took at least 4 big bass notes close together to get it to skip :P
then i moved it to under my passenger seat :P

my brother had something wrong with his stacker and i just told him to get a mp3 hu, which would be better, i recoon instead of switching cds all the time, bro get mp3 hu, they are lots bettter than stackers :D, plus stacker are old fasion, espially if u wanna get fixed its cost more that you brought it for, if i had a stacker i would get it replace with mad hu

This is correct. My current HU does play Mp3's. However MP3's don't carry the same sound quality you get from an origional CD. So i prefere listening to the origionals without any compression.

Maybe your not encoding them at a high enough quality? if you encode a mp3 at 256kb/s there would be no way of telling the difference.... unless your not human.....
i wouldnt go for a stacker simply because they skip over little bumps. if you have a good mp3 player, it should never skip. And you will also fit about 6-8 albums on a mp3 disc... maybe even more. and it only takes 2 seconds to change to the next folder, and it also displays the song, artist, and album names in alphabetical order, so you dont have to guess which slot you put your cd into. lol

A lot of modern stackers no longer skip in most cases (Except maybe on those occasional extreme dirt roads). I had an Akai changer once and that rarely skipped at all. [Then again all my CD changers has been fitted at the centre of gravity of the car (Under the seat) and not in the boot]
Most changers are more or less the same, biggest differences in choiceyou need to take account of:
* heads/ DAC
* CD-RW compatible (A lot are not)
* connectivity
* number of cd's it can hold
* mp3 playback
Considering you have an Eclipse head unit, realistically you are limited to an Eclipse CD changer, so its not that difficult to choose from.
