Just wondering in your experience(s), how long have you seen brake pads last. Im asking this as i have a set of those cheap $30 ferodo pads from supercheap on the front of my car and they have lasted around 2 1/2 years and about 25,000 k's and im only just thinking they are about time for a change, so im going to replace them real soon.

I just thought this was a long time as ive heard ppl say the ferodos will only last 10,000 (because i think they have a guarantee or something).

mate, how longs is a piece of string? too many variables. all depends on driving style, pads charateristics(hard or soft) etc. I've seen maxi taxi(hiace vans) drivers get 70-80k out og genuine toyota brake pads. sold them non gen & thy r back within 25k. basically thy're buggered when they're buggered.

i would use ferodo pads before i would use bendix anyday bendix always seam to squeel
front pads will wear out well befor the rear normaly the rear pads will need doing on the 2nd set of fronts

25,000kms in 2 and 1/2 years is pretty low mileage. That doesn't surprise me at all. I'd expect decent hard pads to last between 30 - 40 thousand in a car driven conservatively.

They may squeal, but id like to see what your braking distance is like after 3 or 4 hard stops...

i use bendix because i know that my car will have very little fade if any simply becuase im using a quality pad. i wouldnt buy a cheaper pad just becuase its quiet, i buy my brakes cause i want to stop. if you want a quieter pad, go for a lucas, they are dirty but quiet and stop very good also.

brakes are one place where you dont want to go cheap on your car. spend the money, than turn your stereo up if the noise annoys you.
