View Full Version : What adhesive or glue?

The side strips on my Magna is peeling off the door. Any suggestion what adhesive or glue to use to stick it back? I'm hesitating to use superglue cause that eliminates any possibility of ever taking off the strips again (for cleaning, respray etc etc). The plastic thingy on the door is also not sitting flush so i might need to slap on similar adhesive. Any suggestion?

Err... what's tarzans grip and contact cement? A bit nervous about the name "cement". Are they available in auto shop like supercheap or autobarn?
Ol' Fart, is double sided tape strong enough to withstand the elements? You know... rain, shine etc. I'm just afraid the strips will fall off after a while, without me noticing! :D

get some double sided tape from autobahn or any autoshop you have in ur state. You dont want to use a glue or adhesive incase the side strips get damaged then you wont be able to get them off!

Double sided tape it is then. Thanks guys...
Considered removing both side strips all together? I think cars look neater without them personally.

is this true? i was thinkin of doin it to mine.. coz they look ghey coz they are faded.. and i would rather just have my car mostly green then the faded skirts (which will get colour coded in time) whats the paint like under the strips (if there is any at all)

I know on the diamante that the side moulding is in place with some double sided factory tape as well as clips, to remove it not only would you have sun faded paint change but a bunch of holes in the door panels.

If the tape dosen't work try body moulding urethane like stikaflek. Pain in the arse to use but will never come off. Most paint and panel suppliers sell it or something like it,better than tape.

Strips are coming away on both sides on my TW- have been waiting since December for replacements to come from Japan???!!!
I asked dealer why they didn't just double -side tape them - they said because there's the clips as well which were broken -so at least they're trying to do the right thing- must admit if they'd taped them I would have been happy enough in my ignorance.
(I didn't bother commenting much except for raised eyebrows about the Japan bit for an Aussie made car - he looked embarrassed enough as it was)
