Like the title says, i wanna know how you installed 6.5" speakers in the doors, whether u used metal brackets, have stock brackets or mdf, as i am wondering what the best way to do this, i have some steel i can make it out of, as well as mdf but i dont have a stock one.

and after i mount the speaker i have to think of what to do with water proofing the back, my dad got the idea of putting plastic over the back (the clear plastic like material behind the trim. Floppy clear plastic but not as floppy as a plastic bag).

Any pics would help,

Thanks in Advance

cut out a piece of MDF to the size of the 2nd gen door indent.
im presuming your going to cover this in vynal?
if you do, the vynal, wrapped around the back adds another 2-3mm to the size.
if you use lets say 5-6mm MDF + the vynal total size will be almost a 1cm.

i stuck my MDF vynal insert thingy onto the bottom with some sikaflex and a weight on to top to make it stick.

then (make sure u have the hole precut - duh) just screw the speaker in....i found out doing it this way is ampol, and its very very sturdy.

the screws you get with the speaker are usually long enough to drill through the MDF and into the trim behind it, more then enough strength.

well thats the way i did it, but then again i didnt want a pod.

hoped that helped.

Although if you ever have to take your trim off or someone else does and they don't know that you've screwed your speakers into the actual door they may just go nuts and pull like crazy, i wouldn't say "i doubt it" cause stupider stuff has happend. For example, look how tufftf spelt 'ample' or vinyl lol

take it easy tufftr, just a joke.

i have come to the conclusion of wat i am gonna do,

im gonna mount something similar to this:

plastic cover over back of speaker > door frame > spacer/bracket > speaker > foam > door trim > mdf > padding > vinyl/material > speaker grill

where there are 2 components which arent attached to each other

1) plastic cover over back of speaker > door frame > spacer/bracket > speaker
2) foam > door trim > mdf > padding > vinyl/material > speaker grill

any opinions?
