Hi all,
Just wondering which people think is a better idea. To get one good 4 channel amp (say $1000-$1200) and use 2 channels to run 3 way splits and bridge 2 to run sub, or get 2 decent amps (say $500-$600)), one 4 channel for splits and one monoblock for sub?
Will having 4 channels for the splits with the decent amp be better for sq than 2 channels from the good amp is what Im trying to say?
Thanks
Dave

How many pairs of speakers do you plan on having?
If only 1 pair then why not get a good 2 channel amp and a monoblock? Or you can get a nice 4 channel amp, just make sure it's designed to be bridged. If you are getting 2 pairs of speakers, well you'll have to get a 4 channel and a monoblock.

Was thinking 3 ways, so 2 tweeters, 2 midrange and 2 midbass.....
Is having the tweeter in the foot panel or A pillar, the midrange in the footpanel or front door and midbass in the back door a good idea to get a good soundstage, but still have some sound for the people in the back, or is it best to just get all the speakers up front?
Thanks

The best option is a monoblock for the sub and a seperate amp for your other speakers.
Putting the tweeters in the A piller isnt the best idea because the driver side tweeter will be very close to you compared to the other tweeter.
Have all the speakers at the front.

if you get a set of 3 ways the 3 speakers tweeter mid and woofer should be as close as possible, they are ment to act as the one unit not as seperate peaces

id get 2 amps as 1 amp will get really hot runnign soo much through it
with the speakers keep them all up front
as its ur car u should have the best sound as its ur money
if ur passengers paid for some of the stereo then they can have some in the back but in the end its ur car ur in it the most. and its not like it will be just bass in the back anyway.
there are 1000's of theorys on placement everyone has their own opinions.
just do what u thinks best
however preparation of doors will give u maximum sound and make ur system sound so much better

Ok dude,
Probably your best option is to get 2 amps.
For the front stage: If you have one crossover to run it ( even in a 3way set up ) get a large 2 channel amp. If you have two crossovers per side or you wish to run an active set up then get a 4 channel amp.
For the Sub: If your sub is a SVC 4ohm there is no need ( or point unless you plan to buy another one ) in getting a mono block. Likewise if you plan on running a single sub that has dual 2ohm coils, in your budget not many amps can support a 1ohm load. You are best to know what sub and what impedence you can present before buying the sub amp.
I would invest in either a Audison SRx2s ( 2x 180WRMS ) or SRx4 ( 4x 65WRMS ) for the front stage and either another Audison SRx2s ( 1x 600WRMS @ 4ohm ) or and Audison SRx1 ( 1x 350WRMS @ 2ohm ) for the sub. :D

Thanks guys

The SRx2s 600WRMS for the sub sounds good, but for the splits I want to get I would like at least 4 x 100WRMS, preferably at least 4x 125WRMS......or more :)
