How much have you spent on mods for your car? I would imagen a fair bit for some people.

Waiting for my friend to get in a Redback Exhaust he has promised to fit for me....HOPEFULLY tomorrow :doubt:

On a side note, I have bought my car off my dad for $4k. 98 TF Advance with about 198,000 on the clock when I got it.

I brought my car (2002 tj 140,000km) for $8200.
Cost me about 800 for the xfer, RWC cert, fee's etc.

Excluding insurance the only money I have had to spend is 450$ for a paint job so far.
In the future I'm planning on color coding the side skirts (500$ quoted job)
Extractors, exhaust (700$?)
Verada parabolic lights (600$?)
Lowering (300$?)
Mags ($1400 approx for 18's with tyres)

Will look awesome when done though, not to mention in 3 years time when it's time to sell it'll look flashy and be easy to sell. Providing I don't try to sell it to high.

Enough to by about 1.5 packs of ciggies a day for a year I worked out....I don't smoke, so thats how I justify the spending

I don't plan on spending too much more, considering I paid $24k for the car, which is now probably worth $15k. I just get the feeling I'm pushing **** up hill with my car. Next buy will be a house, run the car into the ground, then buy a cheap yet substantially faster car than the verada.

Indeed per year Killbilly. I've spent $1000 for the wheels and tyres... the lowering kitty is growing towards the $400 mark, then a goal must be set to give the exhaust a nicer note which will probably get it close to the 2k mark. That'll keep me satisfied for a while.. I HOPE.

I see too many modified cars these days, but I very rarely see a clean, original car in immaculate condition so that's where I'm going with this. The whole car is a clean original VP, with the only additions being clear side indicators, debadging (again want it to look clean), and car audio (which I think is a must) with the latter two both costing me nothing.

Funnily enough the car didn't cost me any $$ either. I did a direct swap for my 1992 TR GLX 2.6 carby which I previously owned. As you can probably tell I'm saving my money.. what for? a house..

Some of you believe replacing things like tyres are modifications.

I try not to add up what I have spent on cars, but I know what I have spent on the Verada is nothing in comparison to what i spent on my previous cars.

I spent over $25,000 on my Gti after the purchase price and over $45,000 on my two Rx4's. I don't care what people think I spend the money for myself and do it to enjoy the car.

That said I am almost finished on the Verada. Whats done:

* 18's Hp Design
* Lowered - Custom work
* Window Tint (Green)
* Exhaust
* Custom Leather Interior using 5 leather Hides. (The leather cost me more then most people pay for an entire retrim)
* In dash stacker - To be replaced.

There are only a few things to be done including a complete redo of the ICE including a custom boot instalation and other minor things throughout.

A lot of money goes almost nowhere when spent over a long period of time, imagine what she would have been like if you'll spent that all in one go :shock:

Middle Muffler + 2xStainless steel tips: $240 - this was done to help increase the flow for when i get the edit
2nd CAI: $5 - more cold air the better.
SL (front) and SSL (rear) : $210 - better handling.

The above mods were done mainly to improve looks and handling. Power difference = poofteenth of a difference

List to do this year:
19" rims and tyres = $2500 - $3000 (currently trying to find a supplier in USA I can buy the rims through to send to me)
EDIT + custom tune = $1200 (booked in for July 6th - getting this at a discount as there will be a mass Edit + tune day(s) through fordxr6turbo.com)
Valve springs + injector upgrade (christmas) = $1500

Total by end of year: $6255 (half of this though is the rims and tyres) = 280 - 300rwkw's (380 - 420 fwkw)

I had a list, and did everything on that list, and more...i never actually planned for a PS2 + DVD + Screen + gauges but i got them cheap so i didn't mind spending the extra money.

Wouldnt mind Chrome 18"s Right now....:think: wish i had the mula for that!

I completed "Stage 1" of my mods list between August and December last year....... then got the ****s with the results, so I pulled them all back off, purchased a TJII manual and swapped it all over.

Now I'm into the "saving up" phase of "Stage 2"............ but there are no guarantees at this stage that it will ever eventuate.

Working for a company who hasn't made a profit for 3 years doesn't exactly fill you with confidence to go out and blow thousands of dollars on a car :doubt: .

alot of people go on about the mods to cars not getting them anymore money come resale time. I say who cares. people make money to survive but also to buy luxuries for themselves. if it makes them happy good on them. not everything you buy makes money, if you want it to you should be in the property market. if your happy to spend the money, more power to you. i like spending my money on my cars and i aint gonna stop any time soon.

The paint cost $250 and $200 to use the spraybooth at work 3 times and about 20 hours of labour but if i was to do it it'd cost you $1000

All I've done is lowered it $495, but paying off and renovating a house will do that to you.

Hmm I've only spent just over $1200 on mine so far from what I can calculate, which is still a sane amount haha, but I've got the lowering, rims, respray and new stereo to come which will land probably $5-6k more into the car before I'm done yet. That's just too much on a car that only cost a little more than that to begin with...

i know i used to have "ambulance black" tint which i think was 5% on my pagero and it was impossible to see out of it at night, i had to drive with the windows down which was a pain in the ass in winter

when i first did the tint was a nightmare drivin at nite now im used to it i only put my windows down when i see the red n blues lol plus infrared reversing camera ftw
