Alright guys, looks like a need a Towbar for my TE and I have three questions:

1. Approx. how much are they ?

2. Is the bar a universal fit from TE-TJ?

3. Is there a nice connector I can get that goes into the loom at the back so I don't have to wire the lights all the way from the front of the car?

4. Hey, how did 4 get in there. I never said anything about a fourth.

Thanks,
-Dan

Depending on what youre after.

Theres the towbar like booyas (which dont come off) and will cause the car to rear sway under heavy load going over bumbps and dips. I think they are around $250 (good for light pulling)

Or you can go the proper caravan pulling towbars (which i would advise as the car is FWD). They add sway kits to the back of the car and the towbar itself is removable. (My parents are in Melbourne today, ill take a pic of it for you) These costs $400 and up...

Also to note.. You should not put more than 60kg downforce on a towball thats on a FWD as it can wreck the gearbox :)

I put my tow bar on myself. I have a TH and it was not all that hard. I got the bar from Mitsubishi and it did come with instructions of sorts. About $250?? about at the time. You have to remove your rear bumper bar and impact bar as well to get it in. From Mitsubishi you can get the harness that piggy backs into your passenger side rear lights and you just connect up the plug fitting to the other end. Only mistake I made was there is a flat metal bracket which I had put on the wrong side of the chassis which meant another hours work :(

I got a mistsubishi one from the Wreckers for $75 and fitted myself, If you get one from the Wreckers make sure you get all the bolts as It makes it a breeze to fit.

dvs,

Thats a damn good idea. $75 is definately the right price!

Did you also get the wiring harness so you could just plug & play?
