On the way home today, the voltmeter went up to 16v and slowey back to 14v.It the first time it have done that. Two month ago, have a new battery put in,and everything was tested while they were at it.If anything wrong with the charger? :doubt:

Magna buff, all accesories were off, aircondition not working(worn out). The alternator is rated at 14 v.It did 4 times on the way home today. My alternator is not the standard unit for my car. When the battery went in,I was told it older that the car. :doubt: The regulator is hard to get(told by super cheap).Going back to shop where battery came from,to see them about it.Thanks Magna buff.

My regulator kicked the bucket just recently it my volt meter read anywhere in between 12 and 16 then settled down but but while it was doing the motor was all over the shop, so i got it checked it was sitting between 12 to 15 volt and the max output was at 20amps (measured at a autoelec) so i replaced the reg $51.50 repco but i managed to get it for $28 through a mate a northgate

It's the regulator for sure. I used to have a TM SE carb did the same thing. Picked up a regulator for $10 brand new from Marlows (similar to supercheap). 5min job to change :P

By the way magnus, last saturday,my radio was dead when turned on. Got it working by turning it off/on.Would that been a warning of what to come?
edit:oh,by the way new part is on. :D

most likely they dont like 16 volts

the wife had a excel and the reg was charging the battery and boiling it i clocked it at 19volts the headlights were very bright and the computer didnt like it one bit the car had no power due to the load of the altinator it was like turning on 3 air cons ...
anyways i traded it for the TL best thing i did .
