In another thread i spoke of installing a magnaflow muffler, every1 said they are killa but a tad expensive. I don't mind spending the extra $$$ if it sounds better and is louder than the Xforce P-EX12 which can be found on their site under oval mufflers. What are your opinions guys?

Magna flow's sound doesnt come from some fancy baffling, its pure unadulterated power. Other companies imitate it with baffles and restrictions in their mufflers.
Though i'm biased and use a 4inch round, 18inch long, 2.5inch ID Magnaflow muffer and will never buy another brand in my life/

Can anyone post sounds and if possible dB readings of their magnaflow mufflers please? That includes our US counterparts :D

I think the PT-01 would be too quite for me, whats your opinion on sound? The rep said I shaould go for the PE-X12 cos it is louder but im thinking of magnaflow.

It depends on what you want. I don't want a car that wakes people up at 3 am 4 blocks away when I get home, but i wanted it to sound good; which I think it does  lol
The one I've got is fairly loud, i measured it at 89dB, but that's with extractors too.

"a car that wakes people up at 3 am 4 blocks away when I get home..."
actually yea thats what im after, but definitly no canon! would 2.5" piping from cat back into xforce straight through, no resonator, make the cars performance decrease? This is what i was thinking of doing. Obviously it would be hell loud but i was thinking i don't need the resy as the magna has the front muffler also.

You will be slapped if you remove a resonator from a magna :P
Go with the magnaflow, there too damn sexy sounding on magnas, it doesn't really matter how loud they are because they're deep.

Is the magnaflow reasonably quiet on idle and cruising but gives a really nice note when you give it the boot?

K well if i don't remove the resonator, how can i get it loud by just using the magnaflow? Please help me before i hand over my hard earned cash and regret it...thanks!

To make exhaust nice and loud without sounding bad cat back 1 resonator and 1 muffler of ur choice (My Pref Magnaflow). will make exhaust deep and loud while not droning like a mofo
Stock car has resonator and 2 mufflers.
just to give a guide on how much it costs i got my system done for $430 but that included swapping my muffler to another car and rewelding.

You still got those audio files of your car ? :) I think they'd give him a pretty good idea.

Audio files would be sweet, but basically what your saying is pss off the front muffler, do cat back exhaust with ressy and magnaflow for killer sound and loudness?
For max power you should go with the cat-back with resonator and a rear straight through. or you could dodge the resonator if you don't want to spend the cash, keep the front muffler and the car will be quieter and you'd get less from it. Personally I was going to go Xforce or Magnaflow and didn't want a cannon and then my gf's little brother bought me a cannon for my birthday thats exactly like the Xforce MD05 and to be honest, I'm quite attached to it now, it looks very nice. I haven't had it put on as I'd really like to lower the car first and do a proper exhaust but you never know, only costs $50 to get a muffler put on, might just do it for the hell of it! I've heard all different magnas with all different exhausts and my favourite has to be a guy up here in QLD with a red auto 3rd gen with a genie cannon, it sounds hell mean, its illegaly loud and is very v6 sounding (unlike a commodore v6 eg).
Xforce I was keen on (http://web.aanet.com.au/naa/md05.jpg)
Muffler bought for me (http://web.aanet.com.au/naa/muffler.JPG)
my car will sound hell mean with that put on! I will be crushed if it sounds droney and tinny :(

Ive still got the old audio clips but i need to record them again as the exhaust note has changed a bit plus the last one's werent too high quality ill try to get some new ones done whne my sister returns dads MP3 player which has the mic.
Though if u want i can send em to ya over msn, as its too late to upload them onto a site that hosts audio files.

Your in SA. I suggest you go on a cruise and meet some ppl, se what they have and have a listen.
I have supercat, very small, and im very happy with it. with just the muffler it sounded awesome. got extractors, and full exhaust with a small 12" hotdog resonator, and it sounded terrible. way too loud and very tinny. I got a bigger resonator put in (similar to stock) and now it sounds like it use to...i love it.
Definately see and listen to what other ppl have and make up ur mind :)

Sounds like a great idea, anyone know when the next SA cruise is?

May sound like an odd question but the 3.8L version of the '06 eclipse, the GT i think its called, what is it's stock exhaust setup? Does it have two mufflers like magnas and id imagine the US Diamante? Thanks.
