Ok, I'm nearly at the end of purchasing everything needed for my audio install, just need a bit of advice in regards to sound deadening and wiring ie. what/how much I'll need.

I'll just run over the gear I have first...

Audiobahn AWES12P Eternal series 12" sub
Hertz HSK-165 6.5" Components
Clarion 6"x9"s (Ralliart speakers)
Audiobahn A6004T 4x75rms amp
Audiobahn A8000T 1x400rms amp

First, looking at sound deadening. Found a bulk pack of Dynamat Extreme on eBay...
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5863990212&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
36ft^2... should that be enough to take care of two front doors and the boot? I also plan on getting a can of some spray on sound deadening to take care of the inside of the interior door panels and any spots in the boot not covered by the Dynamat. Will just one can be enough? Or should I get one of those one litre spray gun bottles? Also, some acoustic tiles for behind the speakers?

Next, wiring. Not sure what fuse size I'll need... I think I read somewhere that you should use a fuse the size of the fuses in your amps added up all together? The A8000T has 2x30A, and the A6004T has 2x25A. So would that mean at least a 110A fuse after the battery? Or am I way off? And with having two amps, is it best to have just one wire running from the battery, then run it through a distribution block to each amp? Then each amp with its own ground. Also, remote wire be split aswell? Will I need a block for that too, or just split the wire? Lastly, gauge of wires... the A8000T will be running at 800rms and the A6004T at 300rms. So 0gauge to the block? Then what from there to each amp? Then from amp to sub..? Also, do people recommend replacing existing wires to speakers? Or would I be able to use those? Only running 75rms through them...

Lastly, almost finished building the (very big) sub box.Any recommendations as to what to use to sound deaden the inside of that? Would just some black roll on mat from Jaycar be alright? Or carpet? Or some spray on sound deadener? Plan at the moment is for one side to be glass, so somethign that looks half decent would be good, so at the moment I'm thinking maybe some black carpet.

Sorry about having so many questions in one post... don't expect people to answer all of them. But if you have any advice on any topic, would be much appreciated!

cheers,
Daniel

In reference to the sound-deadening, that will be enough to do the bootlid and the front doors. If you have some left over, do the parcel shelf. After that, purchase some SoundOff Paint and deaden the rest of the car (including flooring, boot floor/sides incl. wheel well if you got one, cabin roof). You'll notice a massive difference if the entire car is sound-deadened. If you can't afford SoundOff paint, go to your local Supercheap Auto and purchase their spray on sound-deadening **** (often used to spray on the chassis of your vehicle). Spray about 3 or so layers to get a half decent effect.

yeah, its a very vague rule of thumb to determine what cable and fuse you need. So u added them up to be about 110A. However, because amps arne't 100% efficient, you can multiply that 110A to like, 75%. In addition, they'll never be drawing the full amount ayways, unless u cruise around listening to test tones or somethinh.
Anyhows, that doesn't matter. Get a run of 4ga cable, and a 110 or 120A fuse will do. That fuse is there to protect your power cable as well as all your equipment. There's no point having 4ga cable and a 250A fuse. Might as well not have one lol

As for s/d, i also brought a pack of dynamat extreme trunk kit. I used like 2 sheets to do both doors, and have 2 sheets left. Dunno if i should do parcel shelf and boot...kinda lazy. yeah, chuck some acoustic tiles behind speakers as well.

I really don't see a point of deadening your sub box unless you used a really thing material to make it..which is stupid anyway. MINIMUM 16mm mdf for anything. You could find some fluffy stuff to put inside if you really wanted to. I vinyled my first sub box. Its a b!tch to work with. haven't worked with carpet yet...should be easier as u don't need a perfect surface finish....i recently built a box for my sub...its onlly 23kgs.

So with the power wire, you don't think it's necessary for 0ga cable?

Purchased the eBay bulk pack of Dynamat Extreme.... I think that's a bargain. Where would I get the SoundOff paint from?

Yeah, I heard if you don't put something on the walls of the sub box it can sound real hollow and harsh. Not carpeting the outside, carpeting the inside... And yup, 16mm MDF.

D-VAN, good work. I'm eager to listen to it when finished. Your 6x9 speakers are Eclipse's if they are from a Ralliart, not Clarions..

No need to Sound Deaden your Sub box. Keep your money in your pocket for better things.

As for fuses.. I'm running an 80amp on both my amps without problems and i have 2 very powerful JL Amps.. 60-80amps should be more then enough.

I'd go 18mm MDF for the Sub Box at a minimum.

i done my front doors, back doors, boot , top of parcel shelf and behind the back seat all the way to the floor and i think i used 4 dynamat extreme packs

i noticed you can hear bugger all music out side of the car car but for some reason when i'm on the open road the road noise is a killer ... not sure what the go is there but it's worse now than what it was stocko

Sorry, you're absolutely right, Eclipse 6x9's, or Fujitsu Ten. I always get Eclipse and Clarion mixed up!

OK, maybe I will just paint the inside of the box rather than add some dampening.

You're right again... MDF is 18mm... I went looking for 3/4" and 18mm was the closest.

Received the Hertz 165's today, they're in great condition by the looks of it. At the moment I think I'll be mounting the tweeters in the tweeter mounts that came in the Ralliarts and Veradas etc. and I'll see how they go.

Still not quite sure on what gauge wire... Greg, what did you use? I was looking at distribution blocks, and they are usually like 1x0ga to 2x4ga from the looks of it. I think I might run 2ga from amp to sub, I really don't want to restrict it at all. I think the stock wiring should be fine for the HSK's... well, I hope.

Was that the bulk pack like I got? Or just a 2-door kit? Boot kit? Or what?

well obviously, if you can afford bigger wire, thicker MDF, go for it!! :)

Geez... that's over $1000 on Dynamat sound deadening alone...

I just used some 4 guage wire thru a fuse next to the battery then to a 4G to 4x8G distribution block that i placed under the console and ran a 8G to each amp under each front seat. Works perfectly.
