Hi All

I just bought a Ralliart Magna and it sounds and runs damn nice. But according to the display it is consuming 16.6ltrs/100km
Was wondering if this is normal under moderate driving, nothing really harsh, also I am very unfamiliar with engine settings.
I can see a fuel pump with Pressure Gauge and it goes up to 70psi, when then engine is running the needle is going past the max 70psi mark and smells like it is running very rich. The engine bay looks very standard and the Pump has a knob on top with R-1 Racing Sports written on it - no idea if it is factory.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Oh and....
the previous owner had these mods:
* King Spring
* Whiteline Swaybar
* RPW Short Shift
* K&N Air Filter
* 2,5 Exhaust pipe with remus tip
* Clear Side Indicators
* HalTech full engine management system
* Kenwood TV
* Kenwood CD player
* Kenwood tape & Equalizer
* Alpine bass engine
* Full Eclipse speakers
* 18 inch rockford sub
* Crossfire amp
* Clarion amp

All I can see if that the air intake was put back to normal and the pod removed, no idea about the HalTech thing ... sorry I don't seem to know enough yet, but trying to learn.

Thanks

Pretty sure Ralliarts didn't come with factory FPR's, if they did, well - you learn something new every day.

I've got an aftermarket Rising Rate FPR on my 03 magna with the pressure set to around 40psi at idle (read on here about someone with the same mod who turned it up to 50psi, could smell fuel after a while, then wound it back to 40 and hasn't had a problem........... so thats what I did).

My car has been dyno tuned since, and the tuner didn't adjust the FPR......... so my advice would be to turn the pressure down, and see if it eliminates the problem.

Otherwise, sounds like a very very nice car!!!

*edit* - if this device you are describing is located in the engine bay, it is nothing to do with the fuel pump (pump is in the petrol tank itself) - it's definetly a Fuel Pressure Regulator. As far as I can tell, these work by regulating the amount of fuel which goes back thru the fuel return line, hence regulating the pressure in the fuel rails.

Thanks for the replies

I will definately take it somewhere soon to check it out, was just hoping for a quick fix as cash is drying up :) Has a knob on top but guess I wont be playing with that anytime soon :confused:

Cheers

Just adjust it yourself dude........... I'm sure if you ask anyone on here who has a Rising Rate Fuel pressure regulator - they've all adjusted it themselves.

But if you really wanna pay someone $150/hour to turn a screw half a turn......... it's your money (or better yet, give me the money and I'll turn it :nuts: )

sounds like he hasn't altered the mapping when he pulled off the pod.... thus running rich

Be careful and make minor adjustments; take for a drive stop make minor adjustments;

how'd you go about it mike??

When I first installed it, it was sitting at just below 30psi. I did a search on here and found out that someone had turned theirs up (in little adjustments) to over 50psi..... at which point he could smell fuel after the car had been idleing for a while, so he turned it down to about 40psi.

So I turned mine up from < 30psi to about 40psi in small adjustments, and haven't had any problems with it at that level.

101 have tuned the car twice...... they know the FPR is there, and they haven't seen the need to touch it......

Well during my lunch break I will have a go at adjusting it and see if I can bring it down to something more reasonable :) Just didn't realise that I would be able to adjust it without any other changes.

Thanks
