Hi everyone, i'm new to the forums, I'm about to purchase a friends 93' TR Executive. Now i've been informed this particular model did not have rear speakers, which is a pain in the ass. There are only speakers in the front doors.

Too my question(s):

1. Is it possible to install 6x9's in the back, and does it require alot of work, or just a new back frame I can do it at home, or pay some monkey some $$$ to do it for me?

2. Will I have to replace the front speakers aswell (aparently the speakers arn't that great and a new head unit would blow it).

Cheers, carbon.

Hi mate, welcome to the forums :D

1. Yes it sure is possible. your car already had holes underneath the carpet for 6x9`s, but they are in awkward position, meaning they face longways instead of lengthways...no idea why, i guess mitsu decided to play different

2. Your front speakers are stock 4" paper cone woofers, and a quite craptacular. i ran mine with a new HU for a few months before upgrading, so as long as u keep the bass and volume to a realistic level for the speakers they should be fine...they will however sound like poo, espescially if you have a dash mat

Oh really there are already molds/cuttings for 6x9's, well I spose that saves some $$$ as for the way the face, I don't think it would really matter, but that's good to know, I was almost just going to get a HU with front end speakers only. lol :bowrofl:
Thanks SideWinder.

not a problem mate

i used a stanley knife to away at the carpet (get in your boot and draw the outline of the hole on the carpet while its still above the hole), put the carpet back in the car, and used a 6x9 mdf spacer (bout 20 bucks for 2 at autobarn), screwed it into the metal eyelets, and screwed the 6x9 into that :P

also, it helps to take your back seat and centre console out while you do this too, so that you can keep the cables tidy right from the begining

i think the executive has actually got wires going to the back of the car, but no speakers, however the glx has nothing back there except speaker holes, i wired my speakers myself its rather easy.

Theres a place to put the speaker all the way down both sides. I have the speaker wires running down the left side, any other questions mate, the door speakers wont blow depending how far you turn up the volume, if it begins to crackle turn the volume down, even little bit of music is better then none, i have one 4" dash speaker, my mum blew the other so i cherish like god, well until i put in my cadence 6.5" speakers and 6x9" speakers, then i ditch it as far as i can throw lol

I have a TS Exec and just did the same thing. Installed a setof Sony three way speakers sideways in the rear parcl shelf. Wiring went out through the left and right openings behind the seats then down the centre floor under the console to the head unit. Now I need help. I bought a Sony CD player and the supplied plug obviously needs to be cut and spliced in to the existing wiring for the old radio/cassette unit. Is it simply a matter of matching like coloured wire for like (i.e. yellow for yellow, red for red etc.)or is there a trick to this. I don't want to start butchering the wirng in case I stuff it up!!

Thanks in advance for your help.

dont connect like colours as the arent the same, unless it is the stock player that came out of it, the colours mean different things. U need the wiring diagram for the stock radio, cassette player and a wiring diagram of the new cd player, any questions about installing it just email me at a_lotta_stuff@hotmail.com and i'll help you out
