physically you can, as they are practically the same engine. Legally you cant put an older motor in a newer car (well here in victoria anyway).

motor will fit, efi will bolt on too... only difference is internal to the motor... tr/ts efi has roller rockers and slightly different compression ratio. TR/TS efi have provisioning in the head for a knock sensor. TP head may not have this.

bottom line: it will fit, but try to source a tr/ts motor... or maybe just a tr/ts head on the tp block.

[QUOTE=magna buff]doesnt seem to be an economical way to gpo put an older motor into a newer car
that would just devalue it

lol DEVALUE IT.
i dont think magnas need any help in that department

i was just wondering because i was looking at a couple and found a TP
engine that was recoed not long ago and its sounds great and its looks identical to mine
mine has the usual timing chain rattle and it ****s me to tears
the TP motor im talking about i can have for $300 so if their the same thats a cheap
replacment also its a 91 TP and mines a 91 TR so rego wont be a problem.

tp motor didn't have a knock sensor in it's head that your tr's efi system requires to work properly and efficiently. however, if the tp motor has a head that's marked M5 (if someone wants to correct me on that one) M6 or M7, then that'll be fine as these heads are off a TR/TS motor anyways.
