hey all,

my mums tp has a very strange problem. 2 days ago, went to start it up - dead as a dodo. got nrma out, jump started her, and took it to an auto electricians to see wtf was going on (no lights or anything had been left on btw)

auto electrician sed - theres a rubber pad under the brake pedle (bear with me, mum told me what he sed so im not sure on what actually got sed) that expands and contracts with heat, and cause of the weather and thru the night engaged the brake lights. he did something to the car so it wouldnt happen again...

anyways, the next day the same thing happned again. the auto elec. had nfi wat was going on.
any ideas?

ps: it is a 7month old alternator and battery, with correct water levels etc etc.

interior light ? Battery acid might be low ? loose wires on the alternator ?

When i first got my car it was doing this to me ALL the time so one day when i was installing my 6x9's, I noticed the boot light was still on after closing the boot. I fixed that and it was fine after that.

EDIT Just read your p.s.

i donno about rubber expanding with heat :doubt:

but i know the previous owner of my car had the problem of the brake light comming on and killing the battery, i cant remember how he fixed it, n havent bothered to look, so ill go check later this evening when its abit cooler outside

If it's a sedan pull the bulb out of the boot light and see if that fixes the problem. I had one do this just the other week :)
