Hello all...Interested in getting a Lukey LR2779. Was informed by local muffler place that the LR2779 will not fit on my TR 2.6efi stationwagon because of the towbar. Is this correct? If it is right, then what would be a similar muffler that will fit, and what characteristics does it have. Looking for something that may increase performance that has a reasonably low key sound.

I had a towbar on my sedan and the same muffler, no problems. I guess the wagon is structurally different in the towbar mounting area lol

Practically anything is going to be an improvement over the stock muff, however due to your engine size I don't see any gains to be had from attaching a drainpipe.

I have a TS Wagon with a towbar - hate it actually coz it makes the exhaust have to be lower to fit below the bar - rather than being neatly tucked up near the Bumper.

I have a 2.5" exhaust with a REDBACK muffler - I think it was called a sports flow through (or something like that). Nice deep grumble, but does have some drone on freeway (but I like it anyway).
Love it for my car but would not recommend for a family car unless you don't want to hear the children in the back - coz it is loud.

See attached B4 & After shots...
Refer to this link - coz I cannot add the attachment pic at the moment?

Well I have a towbar and this muffler and I have no problem, so there must be different types of towbar out there. I could check what type it is (if it even has a part no. on it) if anyone wants to know. By the way my car's a TR exec wagon

Hey guys (who have wagons with towbars)... Could you all take a look at your Towbars and see if they look like mine - please. (see first post in my exhaust thread... http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8308

I'd love to get rid of that bar that you can see above my exhaust but still need a towbar :doubt:

Yeah mine's definately different from that one. You can't see my towbar through the exhaust hole. I'll see if I can find the make and model no for you in the morning. CBF'd right nowlol

Here is a pic of my towbar. Dam it!...it looks a bit like yours GRDPuck...If your Redback sits on the towbar then why can't the LR2779 be fitted the same way?

I cant imagine why it wouldnt fit?

The only thing is that the LR2779 is REALLY long. I cant imagine that getting in the way of anytihng though.

Just had a brain-storm(ouch!) Would someone with an LR2779 please be able to measure it. My stock muffler's measurements are - * refer to pics.
The distance from "A"(petrol tank support bar?) to "B"(towbar) is 60cm. It has basically got to fit in-between "A" and "B" with the front muffler pipe curving over "A" the petrol tank support bar

When I get my car back from the Clutch place, I'll measure my RedBack Muffler for you too.
Looks heaps smaller from the photo's - and hey! I can upload again - so see below pics... :D

If anyone wants an example sound file from my exhaust, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you.
