TAZboy? mentioned that the new zealand spec magna's have more hp/torque than their aussie made bretheren .. . .

i went to the NZ misti site and 172 kw (under EC test standrads) and 325 NM. . .

does anyone know the exact differences between a NZ spec version, and an Aussie spec version of the same car .. . . .

why does the NZ car (assuming the diffreences are not in the testing standfars - DIN vesrs SAE etc!) make a lilte bit more . .. . . .

can any Mitsi tech people comment plse

regards

simon

Apparently the NZ version is the same as the US Diamante which has a DOHC Engine rather then the SOHC aussie Magna!

Now there's some misinformation.

Seeing as though they come from Australia, they will no be DOHC engines.

I can't remember which it is but it's either the testing regime for power output i.e. DIN or whatever the other one is, or it's the lesser emissions rules.

I saw in another thread not so long ago, a guy from NZ was talking about his Diamante. He and other AMC members were talking about how the NZ Diamante/Magna come from Japan and have the DOHC! Don't know if this is correct but thats what i read!

That's because the Japanese imports are DOHC. The Australian exports that are currently advertised use our engines.

2nd gens were from japan using 3.0l SOHC, 3.0l DOHC and some had AWD etc etc.

I think its to do with the less stringent emmision control over there. I bet you that there
BF Falcons and VZ/VE commodores are making more power then ours as well.

Someone go get a NZ ecu and plug it into your Magna and see wot happens, i know the BPT motor in the Ford Laser TX3 makes 16kw more in Japan just because of the ECU.
