hey guys,

at the moment im running a Pioneer 8650 head unit in my 99 TH sports.

http://www.pioneer.com.au/car_entertainment/cdtuners/dehp8650mp/index.html

im still running the stock speakers.

but im thinking about installing the following pioneer sub

http://www.pioneer.com.au/car_entertainment/subwoofers/tsw306c/index.html

which would be powered through this amp...

http://www.pioneer.com.au/car_entertainment/amplifiers/gm6200f/index.html

seeing as its a 4 channel amp i was thinking i could run my front speakers of it as well.... i know there the stock speakers and they wont last long but theyll do for a while... at least untill the next paycheck.

and then when having to replace the front speakers i was thinking of these splits...

http://www.pioneer.com.au/car_entertainment/speakers/tsc1625/index.html

what do you guys think of this setup? is it the way to go? how long do you rekon my stock front speakers would last?

how have most of you installed subs in the boot? i was thinking of making a custom enclosure behind the drivers or passengers side wheel arch or putting it near the hole into the boot? where the arm rest is?

thanks,

David

why not get all the interior speakers done and amped, then go the boot install? u'd notice the difference in quality straight up, so just depends if u want better quality or more doof? coz otherwise u could get front splits, rear 6s or 6x9s, and amp all 4 speakers, then wen ya get more money go a proper boot install with a monoblock.

just then u'd have it all properly, rather than regretting stuff...

good point.... but its not worth putting 6*9's in if im getting a sub is it? i might as well just keep the stock 6*9's?

i might amp those pioneer splits.... and the rear 6*9's, and then run a mono block for the sub?

is this a better idea? or just run a 4 channel and amp the front splits and amp? and not worry about amping the rear 6*9's?

You could use the 4-ch to run the fronts and sub first.
Then later get an amp just for the sub, and use the 4-ch to either power the 4 main speakers, or bridge it and run just the fronts although that might be too much power. Either way, not much point getting new rear speakers.

Usually it is the easy set ups that sound the best:

Splits
4ch amp
Sinlge Sub
No or stock rear fill very faded.

What is your budget, there are better sounding and higher quality components out there over Pioneer's loudspeaker range. :D

I prefer a Full system Replacement..

So I would go The fronts , 6x9's and the Sub..

Add the 6x9's to the System last..

Stock 6x9's will cope for a while but I would still replace them

Just a Point on the 6x9 thing..

It is Personal Taste... I would not live without my 6x9's and they go fine with my Two 12 inch Subs..
Its all about how they are set...
My Fronts Handle my Highs and Mids, 6x9's Handle the Punch and my Two 12 inch Subs Handle the rumble.. So I have a Full Balance sound with no Biased listening position.. It sounds just as good in the front seat as it does in the Back...
Sort of like A Night Club where the Music has as much Feeling as it does Sounding Good..

I've got that sub and a response 800 WRMS monoblock and find that the sub fades out alot when the stereo is cranked up

I haven't yet found a way to fix this and am currently looking into a dual voice coil sub, hoping that that's gonna fix the problem as then I'll be getting 700WRMS out of the amp insteal of the 400WRMS that it's limited to at 4 Ohm's......

i have a small 2 channel running my 6x9s atm, and splits running off my headunit.. i spoke to some guys at work, cause im getting a 4 channel 400rms amp, and asked whether i should change the 2 channel to run my splits and the 4 channel to run the 6x9s and the sub when i get it.. the answer seems to be always a no, apparently its not wrong and you can do it, but you dont get max power out of the sub. ehhhh my kickers 6x9 are doing most of the work now anyway. im planning to chuck 4 inches back into the dashboard and just run them off the headunit and then look into getting 5x7s for rear doors and run those off the headunit as well.. and amp all the rest of it.. thatll sound mean.. teehee

92gen2..

That wont sound mean , that will sound Bad..

Slapping 5x7's in the Rear doors will drown your Sound Stage too far backwards.
Keep your System layout simple
You said you have Splits, Rears and Subs... This is all that is Needed.. adding more speakers like the 4 inchers in the Dash will just Divert what Power that could have been going to your splits to a Set of Speakers that essentially cannot handle much power and will ruin the quality of your set up..

For Your Set up, I would Amp Your Front and rears off the 4-Channel amp, Bridge the 2-Channel amp to Power the Sub and thats it... no more Speakers or Anything Needed.. Your Sound system would Kick Butt..
