I have a 91 tr exec sedan. Automatic.

For the last few weeks i have had problems with it bottoming out. It also makes a knocking noise on driver and passenger (it sounds like it is coming from under the feet) usually just in normal driving going over normal bumps. I thought it was the shock absorbers but the mechanic has said they are fine. He replaced the back bushes on the sway bar today (forgive me because i dont know alot about cars just what i am told)

Anyway the back bushes arent the problem as it is still making the knocking noises. Just wondering if anyone else has had this sort of problem and may have any suggestions.

The mechanic said he can also replace the other 2 sets of bushes but it would be easier to find someone who has or has had the same problem as me so that we can get a solution to fix it rather then just trying anything and everything.

Just hoping someone can help me please?

Sorry i can't help............ but I've got the same problem.
Go over a bump and it's like it bottomed out on the rear right wheel.
Doesn't happen all the time tho', what i have noticed is it happens more often with a weight in the back.

Thanks for the reply

Mine actually bottoms out in the front. So it doesnt matter whether i have a load in it or not. You know those little bridges you go over that are maybe an inch higher then the road and you hit them at 100 kms? Thats what we bottomed out on the first time and its just gotten worse since then :S Mind you it did a 2 and a half thousand km trip like that lol.

So it cant be anything too major. But would be so nice just to know what it is.

I'd say you need new springs , when they go soft they compress very easily , when i got mine replaced (standard height, kings) the bloody car got raised by something like 2 inches, but I've never had problem with bottoming out again (they're also a fair bit thicker than factory). The knocking noise might be a worn tie rod end.
