Whiteline has a complete handing kit for TR/TS Magnas. The company i work for provided them with there inventory/accouting package and i installed their server that it runs on about 1 month ago. Was talking to a guy named Bob while i was there. He gave me a price on a full handling kit supplied and fitted plus a good discount of course :o

So they've have springs, shocks, front & rear sway bars and strut braces as mentioned.

I wanted to get a strut brace that day but he said the car would be worse if i bought ONLY a strut brace. Dunno why, i guess they should know though hey?

I emailed them a while ago about that "kit"

They dont have an official kit, but they have the parts to make one, so whilst technically they don't...In reality they do.

I got a quote for about 1700 including koni gas adjustables all around, and it'd lower about 2 inches.

If you weren't going to buy anything but the strut bar, I think that instead spending the money on just a rear swaybar would yield much more noticeable benefits.

Exactly what the whiteline dude said. Rear sway bar on its own would be the good for the car whereas strut brace on its own would make it handle worse.

i was told strut brace on its own is fine...?

What would happen if I lowered car 35mm, good quality shocks, and put a strut brace on as well as urethane bushes? (so no rear sway bar)

Kim DO NOT use urethane unless yo have to. The front lower control arm bushes you have no choice if yours are stuffed as mitsu will try and sell yo the entire arm however the rears, although expensive are available.
The urethane is noisy, too hard and also does not behave in the way Mitsubishi designed it to behave.
most race cars use Rubber in areas that there is movement as urethane can tend to bind.
Also the rear lower control arm bushes in urethane just have a crappy sleve through them and they do come fairly loose in a short matter of time, believe me I tried to save $$ in this way and ended up regretting it

thanks...

Do you suggest leaving the ones I have in the car as-is? (as far as I know there is no problem with them). I was just thinking of putting in better ones for handling improvement. It wouldnt be cheap though (hard to fit).

I'll probably just stick with lovells sports lows, i'll find some good shocks, and a front strut brace. Would that be a good improvement? (note: no rear sway bar yet)

If it don't broke .......
get the rear bushes checked on the control arm, it is not a biggie to change at all. The rears tend to crack due to the fact the sleve is attached to the rummer. When you install the new bushes if rubber make sure weight is on the car when the nut on the control arm is tightened so that way the rubber sill not be stressed.
Also one point for EVERYONE when you lower your cars MAKE SURE YOU RESET THE MAIN BUSH. This is because again the new angle on the arm will cause the bush to stress and fail in time.

thanks. Would a wheel/suspension place know to do that or would they just bung in the new springs and shocks and not worry about resetting the main bush?

So would you not reccomend putting firmer bushes in the rear of the front control arm at all?

Not needed mate, if yours are worn or cracked which they most likely are try and get the mitsu ones, about $165 each versus urethane about 165 a set. Mitsu come with bracket and everything needed, urethane comes on it's own and has to be pressed in to your old brackets.

As for suspension places, if you used Pedders in Argyle st they may have though ahead however most either do not know to do not care.

ok. If i asked them to reset the main bush on the front control arm... would they know what i mean? What exactly do they do in doing that?

simply undo the big nut on the end of the lower control arm and tighten it while the car had weight on it.

anyone have photos of what the lower control arm is, and where to find the bushes in it, the nut, etc?
