I've got a manual TR 4Cyl, and my current times are

13.5 secs for 0-100

and

6.7 secs fo 0-60


My engine needs a little work (tappets of death etc etc), but from what ive seen on the NRMA car guide website, the TR is meant to do 0 - 100 in 12 secs.

Anyway, question is: K&N Panel Filter, and Lukey 2779 Muffler, runnin 98 ron PULP all the time. How many secs you reckon they would take off accel times?

i'd say about half a sec off the 0-100 time

u needa get extractors & do more upgrades to the flow of the intake etc (throttle bodies/carb) to get much better results

panel & muffler will probly only make a small improvement, specaily for these 2.6litres

i got upgraded k&n/carb/intake/extractors/2.5" exhaust muffler and only a 1-2second improvement on the 0-100 :?

Blah, i heard that the 2.6's go off with such minor mods?

You got TP? Auto Or manual?

I don't think any car would go off with those mods. Induction noise and muffler sound might make it seem as though it's worked wonders. They are just base mods, remove restrictions ready for things like extractors and chipping to have a greater effect.

dont get me wrong the exhaust & intake for the astrons were fairly restrictive and a bigger everything will make it go heaps better.. just not that much better

Wouldn't going heaps better be the same as going that much better? :p


I was thinking that while giving a bit more go, I would also get more driveability across the board, ie giving access to max power across a wider rev range, and some free'er revving.

yeah uh i meant it'll go better, but not run 10second quarter miles :P so to speak

my mates fully done up gemini was beating me, i had my exhaust and my pod put in, and it gives it so much more power. i flogg him now.......
i have a TR 2.6 manual.....

if your 2.6 is flogging a fully sic done up gemini sorry but it cant be that "done up" a big stereo, big shiny wheels and a paint job dont make cars go faster you know. ive seen "done up" gems run 10s. your magna must be something special if it can keep up with these.
