View Full Version : Boot light sensor??
Hi
After takings those pics of my new boot, i closed the bootlid and for some strange reason, the ccfl tubes were all still on...thinking wtf, opened and closed again...same thing.
THe thing is, there is still a current going thru my relay, hence all my tubes still being on. Where exactly is there a sensor that activates/de-activates the boot light? Mine might be stuffed or something...I don't want tubes/relay to be slowly draining my battery...I know, they use very little current, but i still don't like it.
neybody with a workshop manual or something? do they tell u where things like this would be?

he drives a 98 tf
yeah its a '98 TF
i've also noticed the boot doesn't close as easily as it used too
u see, i got it back from the panel beaters a while ago, saying that my boot was out of alignment...so they said they could fix it and i got the car back with the boot sitting normally. I didn't notice it at first, but now i guess i could say the boot requires a little more force to close than it used to.
uno u love it bob :P
and yeah, its a '98 TF sedan.
edit:
here's a pic....yeah, i guess that wire on the right does something, but i checked it with a multimeter, and it doesn't do anything

as far as i know that wire is the ground wire for the light so when you open the boot, the switch in the lock there opens the ground and wow light :D
maybe if the boot is out of alignment the lock sticker isnt hitting the switch enough to cut the ground??

that sounds like an idea...i'll sit on the boot and see if pushing it down helps?
unbolt the hook thing and bolt it back in with a few washers under it to elevate it?
when u push a large bolt into the latch thing, it goes clunk, and a few things move around. I assume that's what its like when the boot's closed.
See the black plug at the end of the cable? See the metal piece its connected to, and that angled piece slightly above it that's touching the silver thing up the top? When the boot it 'closed' they no longer touch, however the boot light remains on :(

just run ur relay of the trunk light...
U could just as easily run ur ccfls off the trunk light (i do)

yeah, thats exactly what i did....
The trunk light is a negative switch, as in the 12V from it is constant, and its the ground that gets switched when u open/close the boot. I had the relay grounded to the same place the amps were before, hence the ccfl tubes being on 24/7
Its all fixed now, the relay's grounded via the original boot light -ve..
