I have had a few people ask about my bonnet...
So I was thinking of getting a mould of it done and then selling it.
I ahev two choices I see...
1 - Complete replacement (top and Bottom)
2 - Top only add on.
The first is straight forward...I dont know how legal it would be.... (not my problem) and of course it would be more expensive.
The second way is the cheapest and easiest...
Basically I take a mold of the top of the bonnet.. allow the mold to be a little larger areound teh edges and then lip down.
You would then simply cut out a space for the three vents.... and drill some holes for the retaining bolts... then sikaflex the complete new top to your existing bonnet.
This "shouldnt" be illegal as the bonnet can still crumple and the FG will just shatter out of the way... (in theory)
Both ways can have either a standard FG finish to be primed and painted...
OR A more expensive option of a CF top... in either a straight CF look or a coloured CF Look... I think you can get Orange, Red, Green CF Look finish..
Both these ways are better than my design as mine is a cut and paste and after a period of time, due to expansion and contraction, from teh heat of the engine, the FG and the metal will seperate and cause the paint to crack :(
With these methods this wont be a problem. :D
So Next step from me is to find out approx costs...
But I need some feed back from you guys and teh guys who "would" like one...
It wont be worth me doing if I only have 1 or two people as the mould alone is going to cost me a fair bit :( particualary if it is a top and bottom.
Incase you forgot what it looks like here is a pick.
