Oh sorry, I cant comment on the tippy, I have a TF but I thought you meant if you had the choice to go manual or auto, what would you choose?... if so, personally manual would be my choice.. depends on what you use the car for, how much you drive it and your driving style... I hear the general response is that tippy is not much more than just a fancy auto, but as I don't have one I cannot comment on it for myself.

Good luck with your decision.

It's not a matter of the auto's/tippies not being good. They are. Everybody tries to get a manual because they're just downright quicker and more fun to drive.

Autos are limiting when you start to mod your car.

i would of loved a manual in mine but saying that, the tippy is fun... and with a lot of stop go driving, the tippy is the way to go IMO..

But as i said before a manual would be so fun...

I honestly dont find manuals that bad in stop start traffic. It really just becomes second nature after a few months.

Manuals also less trouble and cheaper in the long run most of the time.

I love my manual :D

My vrx is a tippy and its fine for what i use it for. I give a spurt in manual mode every so often and i is still has quick and responsive gear changes
If you are into dragging and sporting around then get a manual. Ask yourself if you are lazy or not...i know i'm lazy!lol . Our second car is a manual so i can get my manual fun in that!

I have a TL VR-X in Manual, and don't regret the choice at all. Its fantastic, and the Wife can't drive it. The manual is a great box, and it makes the most of the great engine. Drive them both, and see which one you prefer. Its not up to us to tell you which transmission to buy, it is your preference. I bought a manual, because it was a demo, and all they had.

Let us know which way you go.

Manuals are pretty rare, meaning that you may forgo some better quality auto Magna's in the pursuit of a manual.

As for the 5 speed tippy itself, I have no issues, it has great gearing for highway cruising, and it has had many positive reviews from magazines when reviewing the VRX.

While the guys here are partially right, in the case of Magnas, the autos are slower than manuals, the 5 speed tippys are probably slower by less than 1 second, probably about .6-.7.

And for those who say that manuals are always quicker, the auto FPV Typhoon is faster than the manual!

I do partially miss manual, and if you haven't owned a manual car (I've had two out of my three cars manual) then it's something you should experience, though there were many times in traffic that I did get sick of the left foot pedal. If I was to get an 8 or a turbo though, I probably would get a manual.

After owning a string of auto's & manuals, I would always look out for a manual. As you can see, that is my personal preference, so do the right thing by you & check out both. It's simply a matter of taste.
