Hello everyone,

I have a problem......
When I go to put the key into the ignition and turn everything is normal, lights on dash, up until i turn it to the start positoin and nothing happens, the starter gets no power.

When i pull the switch out and tried to bypass it with some wires the same thing happend, lights on the dash but no movement in the start motor. but if i turn the igniton switch OFF and then connect the starter it tries to start the engine but cuase the switch is in OFF and not ON the engine wont kick over,

If i put it in the ON postion and manually turn the start it wont go, if i go underneath the car and use a screw driver the starter wont push into the transmission like it should. It apears that as soon as i put the ignition into the ACC there is something that is turned on that wont allow power to traver to the starter thru the ignition switch.

Any Ideas??????

The ignition swithc was playing up b4 and i have pulled it apart to fix it, as far as i can tell the ignition switch is working fine.

if you place a screw driver accross the starter and it winds over you have to trace back the power wire to key

if it still doesnt wind over with the screwdriver its the starter or flat battery

That starter winds over, the starter try's to start the engine when the ignition is OFF,

The starter winds over but wont engage the flywheel when ignition is on ON or ACC. Lights on dash work when ignition is on ON as does the A/C, headlights etc.

Theres 13V in battery 10V when starter is trying to start engine with ignition in OFF.

The reverse lights work so i guess the inhibitor switch works dont no for sure.

Solinoid is your problem, get a new starter motor

not so

it might be a voltage drop at the starter motor , check the voltage at the small wire at the starter (the one that comes from the key) first before you replace the starter

if theres low voltage, a lot of auto electritions use a 40amp relay to fire the solonoid on the starter,

does your car have an imobilizer but chance??
ifso it might be stuffed.
i had an EF falcon with the same problem and it was an imobilizer that i didnt even know the car had.pulled it out and it started

Starter works fine aslong as i bypass everything, when i turn on the electrics it then fails. Something i turn on is causeing the problem from battery to starter.

Im not sure if i have imobiliser, there is something with wires attached to the chamber where the ignition switch sits, has nothing to do with the ignition that i can work out. Could that be a problem??

Friend reckons it might be the inhibitor switch, even though the reverse lights work. Could it still be the inhibitor switch??

thats why you need to check the voltage at starter

Ok when i was fixing the ignition switch i went to test it with a screwdriver and not put it back into the chamber and test it with the key. Cause of this the imobiliser must have kicked in and wont let me start the car even with the key. I have tested the circuit and there is no power going to the starter when the ignition is ON or on ACC. But i get 12+V at the starter on the black and yellow cable if OFF and just a screwdriver.

I need to no how to reset the imobiliser or bypass it so i can start the car any help would be welcome.

Ok just rang Mitubishi motors they say a 95 Exec has a factory immobiliser and when i was switching the ignition switch i did something and now need a new barrel thats wat they said. Is there a way to bypass the immoliser, I no there are 4 wires that go to the barrel which im assuming part of the immobiliser, can i just cut them and connect certain ones to emulate a good signal to whereever????

Please help.......
