I recently bought the car and I have to have the engine mount replaced (under statutory warranty).
Its a 3.5L v6 with full exhaust system, how ever I want to know how I can stop it from breaking again (as I know this is a common issue on many cars including the magna's)
Whats the best way to do it and price wise?
I was thinking about an upper strut brace

I think you can just buy some uber strengh mounts that will last longer than you.

Definately interesting, so what's the difference between those engine mounts and a strut brace with normal engine mounts?
Btw: it was the drivers side mount thats behind the washer bottle, will take a pic and upload it when my dad gets home with my car
Is, this the reason for the vibration when in drive or neutral and your stopped?
Due to the broken engine mounts?

Hey magnarama
The only eay to stop engine mount failure is to drive really really carefully like a granny !
The motor tourque twists the engine mount causing failure after repeated effort !
I have a strutt brace and have replace only one engine mount (drivers side) in 4 years so its not really a problem and mine is always on and of the go gas as I compete competitivley in autoKanahs, wanneroo and classic challenge here in perth !

I just went and checked my mounts, im no expert but they seemed fine.
Why is it my car hasnt had any problems in nearly 210,000 km. Its serviced by the book but the last 10,000 K's i have been thrashing it.
Also about the strut brace, would that actually decrease wear on the mounts?
My front ones cracked atm. Has been for a while now. Will probably get it replaced next services.
Strut brace is completely separate from your engine mounts.A strut brace connects from the top of one strut tower to the top of the other strut tower and improves the rigidity of the front chassis which I don't [U]think[U]would affect engine mount failure rate. But hey if anyone knows different then let us know.:D

Hmm well I'm a lead foot at take offs, its the way i am :) I have a loud car, so I make it loud :)
Looks like those special mounts are the way i'm going, but its only cracked
Is there much risk in driving with a cracked engine mount?
