Hi,
Have got a 92 magna
2.6L carby, manual
have had it serviced and checked by rac but no one can find problem.

Car has been sitting for four months before i got it, and had been basically starting and then turning off from an empty fuel tank.
First thing was i filled it up with petrol and it was smoking a tiny bit, but engine etc seems fine
It runs beautifully and then all of a sudden the revs will drop while driving and even if youve got your foot on accellerator it will kinda bunny hop for about 5minutes then runs perfectly.
no matter what speed, the revs drop off for maybe two seconds and then go up to full power again.
it did it originally when it was warm, now it does it right from starting.
I put some engine clean through and it blew out a whole heap of whitish smoke, when i did that it ran fine for about 50km. Even now it doesnt blow any smoke
But now straight away when starting it now chugs and misses and eventually stalls. So i cant drive it till i can fix it.

Please any ideas?

My 89 TP does/did this (before i decided to fly it over a railway crossing). I am thinking that it is the fuel filter after it coughed and died into the petrol station. Filled it up and there was .21 of a litre of fuel in the tank. Now it stutters and chokes alot so i am thinking that changing it would be a good idea. Maybe you have the same problem.

If shes sucked a low tank and is now playing up its always a good idea to change the fuel filter. You might also wanna give the jets a clean out as they may also have **** in em.:D

Heres a link for a 43meg download of the whole TR TS manual in pdf format that mite be useful to you as well. http://tinyurl.com/9bnl6. Thanx to Jellico 4 that:)

Oh and welcome to the site, hope you gets lots of good stuff, if ya need anything more just yell.:)

Yeah might go and get a fuel filter tomorrow, although i might check and see whether the mechanic did that with the service.
Somebody suggested to me it might be the carby, and it needs a clean... but havent cleaned a carby before, although they assured me its not that hard! lol
Ive never owned a magna before, but even being an oldish car, this one did drive very nice before it started playing up!
