We have a 93 4 cylinder Magna.

A weird problem happened yesterday. After hard acceleration up a hill the car engine started vibrating and being rough - as if maybe it was running on less than 4 cylinders. I pulled over and the idle was just as bad. After 30 seconds or so of idling it suddenly returned to normal and was fine. Has anyone had this problem before or any ideas on the cause?

Also, the check engine light comes on for 5 seconds when the engine starts - is this normal?

Pull the fault codes stored in the ECU/ECM to help you determine what the problem may be.

Isnt that normal? I think its just if it stays on constantly then theres an issue. When I start my car alot of lights come on then 10 seconds later they are all off, I think its just sytem checks.

engine light is normal..

sounds like it could be your leads or spark plugs. one of those could need a replacement or maybe just a dirty plug. Sounds like somethin is failing when the engine is under pressure (up-hill)

same thing happens with me when i get lazy with my services and dont replace the plugs when they need.
