i have a head deck with 2 sets of rca plugs and 4x50w output
i was told i need another amp to run the tweeters 4'' and the 6'' speakers im bit confused
the speekers have a continues of 50w and max 180w
the head deck puts out 50w x4
so why would brissy car sound want to put another amp in/?
this is whats wired at the moment att

you dont need an amp on your rear speakers, connect them up to the headunit and amp your splits instead.
brissy car sound know this, but they make more moeny out of just telling you you need another amp instead

Your Head units Power is Not Sufficient Enough to Compete with the Subs in the Boot..
Your Head units output is 50W PMPO not 50 W RMS..
They need another amp to boost the Interior speakers to cope with the Added Boom in the Boot...
Thats a 1000W Amp, it is Best left to Drive the Subs and another amp is needed to Drive the Ones at the front and Rear of the Car.....
They will Use a 4 Channel amp, Disconnect the Headuntis Internal Amp, Run the Front 2-channels off the Front RCA out puts and Split the Rear RCA signal to channels 3 and four to power the rears, then Level set the Amps so they do not distort. when the Volume is turned up..
I can see what they are Trying to do and Yes You will need another Amp for Optimum results..

4 inch speakers in the front and 6 inch speakers in the rear yeh?
hmmmmmm, I dont think the 4 inchs in the front cannot be expected to match the subs, so in this case perhaps you might need to amp the rears as well, especially if the head unit doesnt have inbuilt HP/LP filters (for phasing out bass from the 6 inches that might interfere with the subs)...

oh ok, well then you will need another amp, at least a 2 channel for the front splits. The head unit might be 50W x 4 but that is max power. It is going to put out about 20wRMS x 4 in reality, whereas most 2 channel amps are going to put out at least 50wRMS per channel which is what the splits are rated at (in RMS).
So another amp isnt critical, but it is recommended!

so if the 6'' and tweeters are rated at 180w max what size amp would i need

Look at RMS (average power output very basically) figures magnus...max figures are useless in car audio...they're really just used for marketing.
With that, the audiophiles here can give you a better idea :)

a 50W RMS X 4 Jaycar amp will suffice but a 4x100W RMS would be Better..
Ignore Max or peak Ratings on Speakers, what we need to look at is their Nom. rating..
this will give us a better idea of what to reccomend..

In that case the jaycar amp will mate up nicely. Magnus I have a 4x100 jaycar amp, have had both the old design and the new one. Tough as nails, great bang for buck.
