hello, i was just wondering if the nicer version of the instrument cluster (thing wif the speedo lol) from a KF verada would easily fit in a TJ magna??? and also wanted to know if anyone knew where one could be picked up from in victoria??? thanks.

you could get one from the wreckers. not sure if its a straight swap though.

Well a KF is pretty much the same as a TJ cluster so I'm guessing you would swap those.

The KJ has that electro luminiscent whatseemebob cluster and I have been told that it won't plug and play in a TJ.

Im thinking that they are identical. I had a look in one of my brochures to check. How about one of the black glass instrument clusters out of a KJ Verada? Would one of those ones plug in? They look bloody great with their backlit instruments!:)

A quick look at the wiring diagrams shows completely different wiring between magna and verada.
Looks like quite a bit of rewiring  .

Technically they will FIT. The backlit displays were introduced in the KH Verada series. which had all the same internals from the TE magna's.. but i can't think of how much effort it's going to be hooking it all up!
But, it's a *** sexy display! haha if you know what you're doing and have alot of free time, and can pick up the display at a reasonible price, i'd say it's worth it :)

From the KH the Verada used the imported, and VERY expensive, cold cathode ray, CCR, cluster from the Japanese martket Diamante. Which is why early diagrams of the cluster in the training manuals, and I belive the owners books, showed a tipshift gear postion indicator. Iirc they used a totally different wireing harness to the normal VDO cluster. Finding one wouldn't be too bad, just find a KH on Verada that has been totaled. Paying for it might be hard though as when new they were over $1000 to the dealers. I have also heard that they are VIN locked, although I have yet to see any proof of that.
