Alrighty, I now have the car!

Anyway, i've decided on what setup I want to get, i'm just getting a pioneer HUD bundled with 2 Pioneer 6x9's for $200.

To my questions:

1. Will it be difficult for a beginner who has no idea about car wiring to install this myself?
2. Are there any tutorials in regards to cutting the 6x9 holes in the carpet for a 93' TR?
3. Are there any wiring and/or HUD Installation tutorials or papers avaliable.
4. Do you honestly think anyone with no car audio expierence could install this and make it work (I have studied electronics so I know all about wattage and what to watch out for).

not difficult at all. i did my car and that was the first stereo i did. are you running 6x9s through an amp? with the carpet, youll need to pull the rear seat out. clips under the bottom then i think its 3 10mm head bolts and slide up. then there are a couple of phillips head scres to undo the carpet. before you pull it out jump into your boot and draw right around the holes in the shelf. then you can use a knife or something cause its pretty tough with scissors..

Edit: BTW where do you live.. if in melb i might be able to help

might also need to pull the break light out from the shelf. its 8mm nut in the boot and a plug thats pretty tough to undo :P

No, No amplifier, unless I'd really need one just for 6x9's? I'm not going to be playing any real "doof doof" music, as I'm a metal fan, so no real point getting a sub.

i would condiser a small 4 channel amp, running them off the headunit will leave you really disapointed with all the hard work you put in.
wiring is easy as. are you replacing a the stock tape player that came with the car? or is there another cd player thingy already in?

theres 4 wires
black - ground (duh)
red - power (duh duh)
Yellow - ACC
blue - Remote wire (for amps)
so basically you have 3 wires to join up.
the rest are speaker wires, and a few extra ones like illumination.

oh and for the love of god upgrade the 4"s in the dash....please.....please upgrade those...
but yes, consider a smallish 4 channel amp, you will NOT regret it:) doof doof head or not

Replacing the Stock Cassette Player. As for the 4" speakers, lol Don't know if my budget could save them. Will 6" speakers fit in there? or only 4"?

It doesn't seem to hard to do, i'm just worried i'll mess something up and end up having to spend more $$$ :S And as for the amp, that's something to consider I guess.

i listen to some metal ... it still sounds good running through amps and subs

It's not that it wouldn't sound good, it just wouldn't have a real purpose I guess.

you'd need to hear it i guess ... live the experience of amped sound

nothing better than listening to head banging music that loud that you cant even yell over the top of it

the stock 4" in the dash are crap and stupid mitsubishi just HAD to make them very flat.. so basically what you are getting is not enough clearance for any other speakers in there. i havent tried myself but ive been told that if you have a good stanley knife you might be able to cut most of that out to fit the new speakers.. i ran wiring through my doors and chucked 6" in there. sounds neat. and YES a small 4 channel amp will make a hell of a lot of difference.

Well my right 4" has now just gone static and sounds craptastic. I think i'll just forget about replacing them. 6x9's an amp and possible a sub (cheap through friend) will do. Thanks for everyone's help, i'll let you know what happens.

Nothing Stopping you from dropping in a Good Quality 4 incher into the Dash, Its Just that door mounted Speakers would sound so much better and it is worth the Extra work...

A Subs potential is not really used in metal, it still makes a Big difference but I think a set of Amped 6x9's is the way to go..
