What do People think of this? I have found a site where its going for $490 and i just had a quick look through google and one site said RRP $1,200 in some cases. Would you think there is something wrong with it if it is going for half thr rrp?

nar nothin wrong with it, just its getting out of date, they are up to DEH *850 now, so your DEH 8650 is a bit older. but still will do everything you want it too

I have one they are pretty good, though they are old.
Although pioneer still dont have a replacement for it. However pioneer did say that they might bring out a DEHP-8750mp out this year

Generally speaking, the surround should be employed on European cars. In most Japanese cars including the Magna the deck should sit further back without the surround. :)

I can post photos up if people need me too.;)

i just bought a pioneer DEH-P1Y from strathfield (last one and going cheap) and I'm not sure if this is related but they look similar. The DEH-P1Y's face slides down and out when ejecting cd's or when the car has been turned off to detach the face.
Now what's happening is that the mechanism isn't sliding the face down and out to eject cd's or detach the face and I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.
I wired it up myself and have two wires which I haven't used from the h/u which is the mute for mobile phones (not needed) and the illumination wire. I also have two wires left over from the car's side and from memory they are green w/ white stripe and black w/ yellow stripe. Would I need to connect the wires and if so how? Also would inappropriate earthing stop the release mechanism from working.
Other than that the h/u works fine. Appreciate the help....
