anyone know if any 2nd gen came out with cup holders that i can whack in my magna

most people take out there ash tray and use the space as a cup holder it only has one spot for a cup, maccas large cups fit very well, 600ml cokes squeze easily enough into place and hold very well.

yeah, what he said:P

or you could get a 2nd hand unti and fibreglass some in yourself:P

might have to give that a go ey!

OMG i thought i was the only one to do that! i use the ashtray for a mobile fone holder, and the hole with the tray removed for a cup. i dont really think theres anywhere large enough to put proper cup holders; any more than one anyways...

falcons have HUGE consoles hence the 2 holders in the middle

the verada touring wagons have cup holders just above the aircon controls.. it slides out.

I dunno if you'll ever find one, but yea, Mal has done this in his verada.

i just bought a cup holder for $15 awhile ago, just stick it into the fan thing, i think you could only fit one or 2 in, has to be in the middle, cant fit em on the sides becuz of the dash, ohwell, it works a treat i rekon, but the ashtray idea is better, i might try that :D

Would if possible to find something for the space underneath the stock cassette player or your Head Unit? The might be another way to get one in there. I use the ashtray so I can really do what most of you do. I usually stick my drinks in the centre and just use whatever crap I have in the to hold it steady.

Mind you I got green slurpee all over the ashtray area last night, lol!

I've seen a 2nd gen with a cup holder - it can be done. you need the Verada/Diamante Climate Control dash centre part. Then buy a Diamante cup holder which fits in above it. Can't find a picture at the moment but will post one if i find it.

Alternatively you could buy a CD Holder / Drink Holder aftermarket thingie. They fit under the radio (single DIN size) - they sell on ebay sometimes. But the angle of our dash consoles would make this questionable?

i always wanted a cup holder. i use my ashtray as a mobile phone holder, i just thought what about drilling some holes into the centre console lid thing and then re upholstering it - then making like a cover for it out of fiberglass that just sits in there?

next time i go to the wreckers ill get one and try it

OR, cut down the padded flip lid thingo, make a bracket with holes in it for the cups, and ahh i can explain with words, ill make a sketch in paint!

here we go...

i had that thought too... but i was gonna be lazy and just put the cup holder in the glove compartment and leave the top up... fiberglassing it in of course... but too lazy to do anything big...

you know those cardboard drinkholders macca's gives ya, i just sit one of them in my center concile fits in there nice and snug. also i found that if you have a 600ml bottle it fits between the seatbelt and the seat perfectly.

Yeah, was gonna say, just use one of those maccaz drink trays in the centre part, fits fine! :D

Hey Madmag I was wondering how you fitted the cup holders into your car?
I have a magna elite and I was after some instructions on it.
Can you point me in the right direction?
I belive that you need to pull the dash apart to do the install? Is this true? If it is can you direct me to a tread that would also point me in the right direction.

I've had the same cup holders for a while and I'm hanging to get them in to the car...

Cheers

Anyway it looks like itll end up to be about 60$ US or 80$ AUS, im guessing shipping would be more than to canada... there's a write up on how to fit them on madmagna webpage.. i think it says climate control models though from random memory

Hi GoTRICE and MagMagna
do you know where I can find MagMagna's post or web page on fitting these I got mine for $60 AU in total sent for a guy in the US.

If some one could direct me to this post or website I would be very greatful. I've been trying to find info on how to fit them with not much success and I don't want to go pulling things apart when I am unsure what I am doing...

a little help please.

Left it with a mate a while ago who had a set of cupholders from his verada touring wagon and he did it for me. Until recently, I left the fockers open and tried to fit a s14 bomex front bar in the car and it leaned on it and cracked them. So they're kinda useless now. So looking for a replacement now, and this time, want to try mounting them myself.

Gee dude that's a bit of touch luck there need to get another one of them, it really should have been a std feature with the car...as with an AWD Turbo V6 model...which should have come out here. We got the raw end of the deal man.

Anyway I had a look today and was able to pull a few bits of but nothing like pulling the dash apart that madmagna spoke of in his instructions.
I was thinking that while I'm doing this it's a good idea to put the audio system in place. I have a Sony GTX-450 deck and what to end up re cabling the speakers to the amps and head unit.
On another note I'm also looking at putting in a towbar. So I can carry bikes on it rather than the roof on the WRX.

hahaha, i had a simple yet effective solution! I work at a coffee shop, but its dead easy, and with a bit of cutting and some tape, along with some plasticard or more cardboard, you can mould the coffee take-away trays into exactly something that fits snugly in the centre consol...unless of cource u use it for something else... but thats my solution!

Cheers,
Adz

P.S. Try Gloria Jeans ones, they do the trick! lol

Yeah too bad we didn't get the super rare limited edition VR-4 Diamante Espada here. Had a photo of one before. Looks the same as the Series II Diamante cept has VR-4 badging, every single factory option included, leather, sat nav, cup holders, heated seats and lots of hidden goodies.

Spoke to a fellow at Phil Gilbert Mitsubishi in Lidcombe, told me limited number of 400 were made. Weren't very popular. Sold in Japan and US.
They also came with an automatic rear view and side mirror glare control, which tinted itself depending on how bright the headlight/sun shine was from behind (just like those glasses that go dark in the sun).

Hey guys I ended up getting the cup holders into the front dash without having to pull the thing apart  I removed the climate control unit which gave me access to the area.
I used a small hack saw to start it off and remove the plastic, from the inside, then a grinder to remove the metal screw that's no longer needed. That's about it really, it takes a while but worth the effort. I tested it with a can of coke, great value.

By the way Madmagna thanks for the doco and advice. Dimi108 and entropy also for advice and helping me find the doco! Once again thanks guys.

I'll take a few shots of it and post it also.
